Seeing as the favorite in this race, KICK STARTNESS, has been beaten in all his last eight starts, five of which he was sent off at under 2/1, I'll take a tentative swing on Toast To Coast to cause a minor upset. This runner ran a deceptively good race going 7F last time. He was outpaced early, then turned on the afterburners in the lane and got up to dead heat for 3rd, just a nose shy of 2nd, before galloping out in front. Now stretching out to 1M with a long stretch run to the second wire and little pace signed on, he should have everything in his favor to go close. He proved two back when running a 60 Beyer that he's good enough to win at this level and seems fairly priced at 11/2.

To my eye at least, Band Camp looks a complete standout in this race, even though there isn't much speed signed on. He progressed really well into a smart horse last year, then came back with a huge effort in defeat last time, despite the fact that his trainer has a terrible record off the layoff and he only had six works leading into the race. He's since fired a bullet drill and if repeating or stepping forward for the comeback run, he should be very tough to stop.

In a wide-open race, I'll take a small swing onto Jackson to get the job done here. A pricey purchase, he was bet hard on debut, finished 3rd, then laid off for a long time before running a big race over an inadequate trip on the dirt last time, closing from 11L last to be beaten just 3/4L in 3rd. Considering the pace held firm that day, his run was noteworthy. He now makes his second start of the form cycle for an in-form trainer and should take a huge step forward for the switch to turf, based on his pedigree.

Speed looks really good at Monmouth today, which should make Bishop's Bay even tougher to beat. This runner has only once run a sub-90 Beyer and was better than ever last time when winning the Westchester S. over a muddy track. He looks to be getting better with each start and with the ability to closely stalk the pace from the outside gate, he should be tough to beat.

In a wide open looking contest, I'll take a tentative swing on Cassiar to go close in this race. She was tremendously impressive winning in New York last time, beating Scottish Lassie who returned to finish 3rd in the G1 Acorn last week, and is clearly held in high regard. Her running style should see her to great effect in this race and with more upside than most, she seems fairly priced.

With three places remaining on offer, I'll take a shot on PASCALINE to at least hit the board here. This runner has always been held in high regard and has done little wrong, winning a stake following a maiden-breaking debut before producing two solid efforts this year. He was beaten by the re-opposing KENTUCKY OUTLAW last time; however, despite the fact I felt he wasn't at his best that day following a big comeback run in the Bay Shore, he was closing late. Now stretching out to 1 1/16M in his third start of the form cycle with blinkers on and little pace in the race, he looks well-positioned to step forward and possibly run a career best.

Trainer Milan Milosevic couldn't have his small string of horses in better form right now and can extend his run of good form with HAPPY THIS DAY. Despite being bred for the turf and showing visible signs of greenness, this filly ran an eye-catching race in an off-turf event at Pimlico last month, hitting the outside gate, then closing strongly into second. With the experience now behind her, she looks well-positioned to build on that effort and go close today now switching to the turf. Small play.

In an open-looking race, I'll take a stab on HARROW to get the job done here. Since joining Saffie Joseph's barn, this runner has posted consistent 90+ Beyers, the best two coming in his only two tries at 1 1/2M. He proved when winning at Kentucky Downs last year that both he and his trainer can be ready to fire their best shots in marathon races off the layoff. Having worked well at the Spa recently, he seems a huge player.

The favorites look vulnerable in this race to me. MY FLICKER seems uncertain to stay, and TOO MANY KISSES looks like she needs to go further. Therefore, a chance can be taken on GINGER GIRL to get the job done. This filly was tremendously impressive winning around two turns last time, so is clearly in red-hot form, and showed enough early speed to merit consideration now cutting back to 7F. I don't think this is a deep race, and with her trainer firing on all cylinders, she can get the job done again.

At 5/1, I'll take a wimpy EW play on BETTER WATCH IT to get the job done here. This runner returned with a deceptively good effort off the layoff last time, closing into a slow pace to finish 2nd in a competitive $40k claimer. He should get a much faster pace to run at in this race, which looks no tougher than his last, and he should strip fitter this afternoon too.

DETERMINISTIC will have to raise his game to beat the likes of Spirit of St. Louis in this race today, and I think he can. The super consistent GSW winning son of Liam's Map is 9-for-11 in the money in his career and has run super races on fast dirt, sloppy dirt, good turf, and firm turf from 7F right up to 11F. He looked better than ever last time, winning a G2 with a 98 Beyer that makes him very competitive today. He's going to be right up and on the pace today, but the pace really doesn't look to be strong. If he gets the jump on the key players, he could be very tough to beat in the lane.

Strangely, Brad Cox has been a little cold at CD recently, so I'll take a shot on the Forster FAST TOWN to get the job done on debut. This horse is bred to be both talented and precocious and has been electric in the morning, firing multiple bullets on the snaff alongside talented workmates. He's got a nice draw in gate six and can get the job done.

Alpine Princess' form doesn't look overly encouraging. However, following a blowout win at Remington in September, she had no pace to run at when finishing a head second to Pretty Ana in the Comely. Then she had no chance of catching Recharge on a ridiculously fast track at Sam Houston, and then caught wet tracks in her last two starts, which she didn't appreciate. I think all those defeats can be forgiven, and if she recaptures form today to run something like she did at Remington, she could play a huge role this afternoon.
