Although Margarita Girl looks tough in here, we're beginning to find out where her level lies speed figure-wise, and it doesn't seem inconceivable that Baffert's USHA can't reach that level off the layoff. After breezing with Tenma, she held her own against some talented fillies last year before going to the sidelines and has breezed exceptionally well for her return. Lasix on first time and a tactician post, she may have more to offer as a 3YO.

At what will hopefully be a decent price, Dial A Friend is interesting in here, especially considering how fast this turf course has been playing. He ran two nice races here going 5F against decent goers last year, then won well over the main track before trying some QH races and extending his winning streak. Back to turf with a clear pace edge, he might just nick it on the front.

Five To Two was upwardly mobile last year when facing tougher foes than she meets today; reclaimed by Rice two back, she went to the sidelines before returning over 6 1/2F last time. She missed the board in that race, but ran sneakily well in defeat having been bumped out of the gates, then asked to make a big mid-race move. She should be tighter today as she now stretches out to two turns on the slop which she's proven to love. Rice excels stretching horses out second off the layoff.

Colonial Rose looks to have been a shrewd claim by Norm Casse who picked her up at Keeneland earlier this year, instantly entered her in a starter allowance (crucially with blinkers off) and enjoyed watching her romp. Her 85 Beyer from that race is by far the best on offer in this moderate looking affair, and it came on a sloppy track, so she'll have no issue with track conditions today. With a likable pace setup too, she should be tough to beat.

Although Nysos will have to stretch out further than he's ever gone before, it's almost impossible to look past him here. An unbeaten 2YO, he returned with a winning effort in a red-hot G1 on the slop at Churchill in May, then blew away an overmatched group last time. Third off the layoff, he looks mighty tough in here following some serious morning drills.

At what's likely to be a big price, I'll take a stab on Remembr April here. This Yakteen-trained filly debuted over 5F on the turf at Los Alamitos recently. She failed to hit the board; however, she did run home strongly and then gallop out in front. It was an encouraging debut, and with so much turf route form in her pedigree (good form too), one can expect her to take a notable step forward here in what looks like a weak race.

While there's been plenty of discussion about whether Sovereignty will be fully fit for this race or not, seeing as it's no more than a prep for the Travers, and there's a lack of speed in here, one feels that he should simply overwhelm this field again. The KY Derby winner showed a new dimension in the Belmont, racing closer to the pace and then exploding last with a 23 and change final 1/4 mile. The cut back in trip should be no issue for him, he looks better than this group and Mott surely hasn't let him down so much that he can't win this?

It's a shame that this race has been plagued with scratches. However, it does mean that Classic Q becomes an even stronger selection. Having always shown ability, she dominated in a stake last time; that seemed to be her coming out party. She has to get another 1/16M today, which isn't a given, but she does look lone speed. The way she won at Churchill earlier this year would offer hope that'll be no issue.

Blamicker didn't have to beat much when winning at Finger Lakes last time, but he ran fast (86 Beyer tops this field) and looked good doing it, lengthening powerfully away from his rivals at the line. That race was his first for 211 days, so there's a chance he'll strip fitter today, and although there's plenty of other pace in this race, he might just be the best of it.

Out of the extremely talented GSW Mother Mother, this horse has looked exceptional in the morning, recently outworking Miwa (GB), who contested a G1 two starts back. Pletcher unleashes his best 2Yo's here (like the one he let run yesterday) and it's encouraging to see Johnny V up.

It's hard to look past Fondly in this race following her romp in the Delaware Oaks last time. She beat the 1-2 finishers from the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes, including the reposing Paris Lily who, extraordinarily, is favored. Fondly looked in a different league to her rivals that day. Yes, she got an easy time of things on the lead, but Paris Lily was right upsides her and she certainly doesn't need the lead. With plenty of speed signed on, she should be able to stalk from the outside, and if she's anything like she was last time, she'll be tough to beat.

This Saffie Joseph trainee is 9-for-9 in the exacta lifetime and 4-for-4 going a flat 6F. She could end up controlling things on the front end from gate two, certainly looks the best of the speed, and doesn't go down without a fight easily. With speed playing kindly at the Spa, she might just hold on.
