Ricky performed well at last month's Grand Slam, eventually losing out to Price in the quarterfinals. This is a game that screams over on the maximums. Man Lok Leung's data is not the easiest to base a whole lot on, but with the games available (two Bahrain Darts Masters appearances and two appearances in last year's World Championship), the man from Hong Kong has hit 20 maximums across four televised appearances. Going over on the sets. As previously mentioned, Andreas Harrysson is a decent opponent for Ross Smith and not someone it will be easy to run through. No head-to-head data to go off of, but both seem to be playing okay darts over the last few months.

I would be tempted by a whitewash, but I think Harrysson has shown on the Development Tour over the last few seasons that he is not a player to go down without a fight.

The draw is enticing, but I'll back Cor Dekker for the most maximums in this matchup. The Norwegian showed in the most recent Euro Tour event that he is more than capable of hitting 3+ in a first-to-6 leg match, and Rob Cross is known for switching to the D18s a lot.

Quite surprised to even be getting this high of odds for Ryan Searle to hit the most maximums today. 'Heavy Metal' has been a heavy scorer on tour over the last few seasons. That is not synonymous with his opponent Chris Landman. In his two Euro Tour matches in September, Landman failed to hit a single maximum across his two matches. Searle, on the other hand, hit eight across his three.

Expecting this game to yield a fair few maximums. In both his German Darts Championship games this season Niels Zonneveld hit 3 maximums, and Haupai Puha hit 7 across his 3 World Series matches. Quite fancy Jamai van den Herik, and I feel tonight will be a case of whether he lets the big occasion get to him. The young Dutchman has played on the Pro Tour a number of times this season and taken some decent scalps along the way. Most recently he narrowly lost to Luke Littler in PC34, so with a set advantage I wouldn't be surprised to see him go well against Madars Razma tonight.

Would be surprised to see an upset in this opening match of the World Championships. After announcing himself on the stage as an 18-year-old, Merk's career hasn't gone the way many people expected. After failing to secure a tour card, he played in a couple of ranking events on tour this year. In the first he reached the third round, and in the second he reached the second, eventually losing out to Ross Smith. He has done well to qualify for the World Championships, but looking at his averages in those qualifiers, I don't think seasoned pro Kim Huybrechts will have many headaches this evening.
