18:20 Stephen Bunting vs Ryusei Azemoto

Stephen Bunting

Win Match 2-way

50 WIN

Pretty pointless odds to be backing this but either way I see this being a storming victory for the Bullet. If he averages 93 or more, he should be winning this by 4 sets or more.

Ryusei Azemoto hasn't had the best couple of years, not managing to record an average over 88 in recently recorded games. If he plays that way tonight, Stephen Bunting should take him to town.

Can't see Ryusei Azemoto getting three legs on the board today, looking at his form over the last year or so. Backing Stephen Bunting to win fairly comfortably this evening in Bahrain.

Despite losing 3-0 to Ratajski in the opening round of the most recent World Championship, Alexis Toylo put up a decent fight, averaging over 90 across the game. Up against MVG in the opening round in Bahrain tonight, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Filipino get at least three legs on the board.

MVG made it to the fourth round of the recent World Championship, but he is definitely not the force he once was. Up against Alexis Toylo today, I think Mighty Mike will win but not by a walkover.
17:40 Luke Littler vs Paul Lim

Paul Lim 4.50

The game tonight will arguably draw the most attention. The much-loved Paul Lim fell to Luke Humphries in the World Championship, but not until after beating Jeffrey de Graaf in the opening round. The Singapore Slinger has arguably the toughest game possible against back-to-back World Champion Luke Littler, but I'm backing the veteran to get at least two legs on the board.

Recent back-to-back World Champion Luke Littler was essentially faultless in taking home his most recent crown. But I think this is great odds on veteran Paul Lim getting at least two legs on the board today. Known for not practising a lot, I wouldn't be surprised if the Nuke hasn't thrown a dart since his win on the Ally Pally stage.

In a repeat of 2024 and 2025, Luke Humphries and Abdulla Saeed once again meet in the first round of the Bahrain Darts Masters. On both occasions, Cool Hand has won 6-0, and I don't see this one going any differently.
17:00 Nathan Aspinall vs Lourence Ilagan

Nathan Aspinall

Lourence Ilagan has shown a decent fight over the last couple of years on the PDC circuit, but after losing nine straight games, I can't see him beating Nathan Aspinall today.

Nathan Aspinall and Lourence Ilagan face off again today in a repeat of last year's first-round BDM match and the first round of the most recent World Darts Championship. On both occasions Aspinall got the win, but it went to a last-leg decider in Bahrain last year, and Ilagan got a set on the board in the WDC. Backing Ilagan to get at least three legs on the board today.

Backing 8 or more legs today. Despite losing his last nine games on the PDC circuit, Lourence Ilagan has always put up a fight and has only gone down by whitewash in two of those games (which were set play). In a first-to-6 leg game, the Filipino is well worth three legs.

Very little to go on in terms of Basem Mahmood's form, but in his last ten games he has failed to record an average of 80 or over. It should be a walkover for Danny Noppert, who is one of the most consistent players on tour.
16:20 Gian van Veen vs Man Lok Leung

Gian van Veen

These two faced off in the 2024 PDC World Championship, where Man Lok Leung stunned Gian van Veen to hand him a first-round defeat. I'm backing the recent World Championship runner-up to get his revenge today, but I don't see it being a walkover.

Man Lok Leung got the win over Gian van Veen in their only other face-off, but that did come a couple of years ago. The Dutchman has only gone from strength to strength. That being said, I can see the man from Hong Kong getting at least three legs on the board today.
16:00 Gerwyn Price vs Motomu Sakai

Gerwyn Price

Nathan Aspinall is going to be my each-way selection during this year's World Championships. He has had a decent couple of months, winning the European Championship in October and reaching multiple finals this season, including the US Darts Masters (albeit not ranking) and, most recently, the Players Championship Finals where he lost out to Luke Littler. He is in bracket 3 with Luke Humphries and Gian van Veen, who will provide stern tests but not ones he can't overcome, having beaten both multiple times this year.

Stephen Bunting

@+4000

Could be foolish, but Stephen Bunting will be my pick for the 2026 World Darts Championship. The Bullet has had a tough couple of months leading into this event, but I am basing this pick on Bunting's overall season, which has been exemplary. Bunting followed up his semi-final loss in last year's World Champs with a win in Bahrain in the World Series. He also won in Copenhagen in June. On the Pro Tour, Bunting won Players Championship 18 and 25 and reached multiple finals. In European events, Bunting won the International Darts Open in April and was also victorious in the Swiss Darts Trophy in September. The sum of these results leads me to believe he can make a solid run in this year's World Championship. Despite being in Littler's bracket, I don't put it past him to beat the young star, whom he has already bettered on three occasions this year.

Could even see this one going to a fifth and final set, so I will snap the handicap off for an over 3.5. However, Man Lok Leung has performed admirably in all four of his televised appearances across the last two seasons. Can see this one being close.

This is a game that screams over on the maximums. Man Lok Leung's data is not the easiest to base a whole lot on, but with the games available (two Bahrain Darts Masters appearances and two appearances in last year's World Championship), the man from Hong Kong has hit 20 maximums across four televised appearances. Ricky's maximum record speaks for itself.

Backing Ross Smith this evening, but I don't think it will be as simple as 3-0. Andreas Harrysson has become known as one of the better players on the Development Tour, and I don't think he will let the bright lights of the Ally Pally get to him.

Going to back 3-1 Ross Smith. He lost in the second round of last month's Players Championship Finals, but it was to eventual winner Luke Littler, and he was playing some nice darts despite the loss. Quite surprised to even be getting this high of odds for Ryan Searle to hit the most maximums today. 'Heavy Metal' has been a heavy scorer on tour over the last few seasons. That is not synonymous with his opponent Chris Landman. In his two Euro Tour matches in September, Landman failed to hit a single maximum across his two matches. Searle, on the other hand, hit eight across his three.

Expecting this game to yield a fair few maximums. In both his German Darts Championship games this season Niels Zonneveld hit 3 maximums, and Haupai Puha hit 7 across his 3 World Series matches. Considering all those matches were first to 6 legs, a best-of-3-set match should feature more than 7 180s.
