Scouse filly with an eye for form ;) LFC fan and lover of long priced winners. Looking for value in flat racing and concentrating on overpriced outsiders that the market's missed. Nicknamed after 'Lottery' the first Grand National winner - fitting, as I'm always rolling the dice, - but with a plan!

Scarlet Moon, trained by Archie Watson and ridden by Hollie Doyle, has found his feet this spring with three all-weather wins before tackling turf. The gelding remains lightly raced on grass and ran below par in his latest 14f at Ffos Las when hampered at the start and was unable to get his usual stalking rhythm. Prior to that setback, he scored over 12f at both Southwell and Kempton this season, demonstrating strong cruising speed and grit to dominate his rivals in style. Dropping to 1m 6f, the conditions appear ideal for him to get back to winning form, especially if he can lead or be prominent early.

Refreshment arrives at Galway in top form and chasing a hat trick after back to back wins at Leopardstown and Cork. He first caught the eye when powering home from midfield to score over a mile at Leopardstown, showing an excellent turn of foot and strong finishing kick. He backed that up with a dominant front running display at Cork just five days later, defying a 6lb rise, suggesting there's more to come off his current mark. With a good racing weight and confidence high, he looks well placed to challenge this evening.

Caledonian

Daily Racing

Caledonian, trained by David Simcock and partnered with 5lb claimer Tayn Langley, is a lightly raced 3-year-old who could be set to bounce back now dropped to a mile in a small field apprentice handicap. After shaping with promise as a two-year-old, including a convincing win at Kempton, he has faltered in progress. The drop in trip looks like a deliberate move, and he now faces weaker opposition today. With the apprentice allowance helping his weight burden and the return to a mile possibly unlocking improvement, Caledonian looks like a worthwhile bet at this price.

Lebron Power

Daily Racing

The well-bred 2-year-old filly Le Bron Power has strong appeal in this Class 2 event at Goodwood. She made a positive impression when winning on debut over 6f at Windsor before contesting a Listed race over 5f at Sandown, where she ran with credit and maintained position without disgrace. Clearly a speed-type, that form gives her a solid platform for stepping into this race. Richard Hannon's juveniles often improve for experience, and the ground should suit her today.

Sands Of Spain

Daily Racing

Sands of Spain has maintained a progressive profile over 5f, following two wins at Carlisle and Newcastle before finishing a sound third in the Super Sprint at Newbury. An effort that came under handicap conditions when conceding weight to the front two, yet still showing promise despite losing focus on the front end. Rated 91 and currently given a generous price at writing, he holds potential to outrun that price if he secures a clean trip in this competitive Group 3 since several rivals, including Lady Iman and Military Code, may face traffic or tactical challenges. With the race likely to involve a fierce early pace, Sands of Spain's battling style and upward trajectory give him solid claims to get in the frame.

Naawi makes only his second start after a debut over 6f at Doncaster where he was slowly away, but stayed on strongly in the final furlong to finish 7th, passing several impressive rivals in the closing stages. Dropping slightly in trip and stepping into a small Class 4 novice field should suit his running style and aid a clean start. If Naawi gets a decent break and an untroubled trip, he could be a surprise today.

Cape Breton

Daily Racing

Cape Breton looks a strong contender in this race, following an impressive six and a half length win at Salisbury over 1m4f on good to firm ground. That performance suggested significant improvement. He still appears well-handicapped based on that display. Previously, he shaped with promise on handicap debut at Ascot over a shorter trip, and stepping back up in distance should suit him better. Beckett has a solid record with training progressive types at this level, and with conditions in his favor, he has strong claims today.

He scored over a similar trip off 2lb lower mark in May and returns to a very winnable 0-60 grade after a couple of tough runs. Last time out, he ran into traffic and was dropped out too far off the pace??"conditions that are unlikely to be repeated with Galway's long run-in. He's drawn mid-pack, which is ideal for an off-the-pace finisher with a clean run down the hill. Quiet early interest has come in for him, suggesting connections are confident of a strong showing, and significant jockey booking points to a big run here.

Daily Racing

A nine-year-old bay gelding trained by Dermot K. Weld, Coeur d'Or is by Dubawi out of Irresistible Jewel, showing stellar pedigree and staying power. He posted a solid fourth at Galway in this race last year, off a mark of 100 on yielding ground. His best form came in 2023 when he won the Galway Mile and the Irish Cambridgeshire at the Curragh, demonstrating his staying ability through midfield finishers. While no longer a rising star, he remains a tough and genuine competitor, often coming off the pace in a race he knows well. The going is also suited to him today.

Daily Racing

Jack Rabbit Slims is a lightly raced 2-year-old gelding by Aclaim out of Velvet Jaguar. Last time at Pontefract, he was given too much to do early on and weakened to finish fifth of eleven. Ridden by David Nolan, he does show signs of progression. He should appreciate the 6f trip. The step back in grade should also suit; he was trying maidens previously, and this weaker nursery race looks winnable.

A lightly raced 4-year-old chestnut gelding by Night Of Thunder, trained by Ed Walker and Goodwood specialist William Buick in the saddle. Returning from a spell, he produced a career-best win in the Group 3 John of Gaunt Stakes at Haydock in May under Buick, holding off veteran Kinross by a head. Page Fuller of Racing TV notes that Ten Bob Tony's tactical style - traveling prominently and maintaining speed throughout the race - matches Goodwood's downhill layout perfectly. He goes well fresh, and having a recent break since his Haydock triumph, he could have an edge on rivals who are raced more frequently. Profile suggests he'll be a lively contender today.

Tony Montana is versatile over a mile and remains consistent at this level, posting strong efforts in big-field handicaps. Earlier in the season, he secured runner-up spots at Goodwood and York over around 1m 2f, confirming his stamina and reliability across similar trips and conditions. He's drawn in stall 6, which is considered favorable in split-pace races at Goodwood and should support his running style.

Silver Trumpet really likes the AW and Southwell, winning over this course and distance in the past. I think he should go close today, and the price offered for him in the double digits is generous.

Big Cyril

Daily Racing

Despite being relatively unexposed, Big Cyril looks poised for improvement stepping up to this Class 3 6f sprint handicap on good to firm ground. Trained by Alice Hynes, he carries just 9-9 in weights. His recent runs fall short of what he's capable of, which explains his price today, but the addition of first-time cheekpieces should sharpen him up. I have to give him a second look at this price.

Magdalayna

Daily Racing

Magdalayna struggles over longer trips, but the trip here looks to suit her better. This will be her first run on an artificial surface, so she's unproven here. But on the flip side, she might actually suit it better. She's lightly raced and only carrying 9-8. There is room for progression, especially back at a mile. I'm expecting a bold run if she takes to the AW.

He resumed in decent style to finish second on 7 July over this course and distance, just beaten by three-quarters of a length. Following that run, he has been given almost three weeks off, a break that may rejuvenate him for today's effort. Rated just OR64, he looks well treated off that mark, especially over this C&D. A strongly paced race should play into his hands, given his closing style.

Arkenstaar is a well-handicapped five time winner whose best form has historically come at Hamilton, but he's shown signs he could strike elsewhere. His latest effort at Ayr saw him finish 7th, beaten only 4 lengths in a race where he raced wide from a double-digit draw. He now drops into a Class 5 contest off OR 77, returning to Pontefract where he's not been disgraced. With Connor Beasley back on board and conditions in his favour, he looks capable of outrunning his odds.

Daily Racing

Apple's Angel has some good efforts in her form, notably 2nd at Epsom last time out, when she travelled strongly into contention before being edged out late by a more experienced rival. She handled the undulations well and showed good tactical speed, confirming previous promise from her Chepstow run. She appeals as a filly on the up with more to come.

We're Reunited shaped better than the bare result when midfield at Chepstow last time, being held up and caught behind for too long. Back over 6f at a course where he's gone well before, I think he can show more of his ability here. The faster ground should also suit him today.

Pure Artistry has shown ability in multiple starts and ran better than the bare result last time at Ffos Las, where she was held up and never in position to challenge in a race that didn't suit her running style. Back on quicker ground over a sharper 6f, she looks well treated off her current mark, and a significant jockey booking also makes me take notice. Can go close if she builds on her earlier promise.

A former winner over 5 furlongs on the all-weather, Son Of Wind is stepping back to turf at Chester after a summer break. His recent run over 6 furlongs at Kempton suggested he needed the outing, and the drop back to 5 furlongs should play to his strengths - provided he handles the turf as well as the all-weather. At three years old, under a lighter weight (9-7), he remains lightly raced and could still be improving.

This victory highlighted his ability to win off long odds and that he's often undervalued in the odds. Additionally, he's posted fast times over 5 furlongs that align well with today's straight track at Newcastle - a course where draw bias tends to favor higher stall numbers on good ground conditions.
