Trainer Tom Tate is a name I'm not familiar with, but his small stable have had two fancied winners and two others just a length away from his last eight runners. Bayraat races off a career-low of 51 today, and I'm sure Daniel Tudhope will bring out the best in him.

It's been a while since Under Curfew last visited the winners' enclosure (Feb '25), but his last turf mark of 54 saw the 10-year-old finish 1.5L 2nd of 12 at Bath last September. Racing off 51 today and with Myla Coppins claiming 7 lb, Under Curfew could be in with a shout.

A speculative e.w. is chanced on Dylan Cunha's Cartwheel. The four-year-old showed a lot of promise when winning a 13-runner C2 restricted novice at 2, but for some reason or other has gone right off the boil ever since. She was highly pitched in a C1 and two C2s between 5f and 8f. Today she drops right down in grade to a Grade 6 off a career-low of 61. It will be interesting to see how she fares upped in distance.

Cosmic Clarets caught my eye on debut when 2nd in a C4 Novice and followed that with a one-paced 2nd. He was pitched too high in his next two runs and then really disappointed in his last two runs of the season when well beaten in C4 and C5 handicaps. He was gelded in the interim and showed encouragement when 0.5L second in a C6 three weeks ago. He is sure to strip fitter from that, and a repeat should see him go close.

My points system goes for Bellum Justum, then Gamrai, and third comes Hopewell Rock. I'm going to opt for the latter because he ran two very close seconds in C2 and C3 handicaps last season. He arrives here gelded since his beaten-favourite 9th of 22 in the November Handicap at Doncaster.
