I had backed Fact To File ante-post for the Gold Cup at a decent price and gutted connections have bypassed that race for this, which is a tip in itself and I can’t see him losing this. However,for an each way play I'll be backing Matata at a decent price. A course and distance winner in impressive style on New Year's Day and excuses can be made when last of 8 at Windsor over further last time out - race may have come too soon being 17 days after, made a bad mistake and jockey dropped whip. Comes here much fresher following a 53 day break, travels strongly at this trip and handles the track.

Won the Gallagher Novice hurdle at the 2024 festival here and was sent off odds-on favourite for the Brown Advisory novice chase when disappointing last year. Previously touted as a potential Gold Cup horse he looked very strong through the line and powered up the hill when winning here in 2024.He has the size and stride of a stayer, wears the first time hood and it is interesting that connections have gone the stayers route for him.
