7-year-old who warmed up for this with a win last time out in a Class 1 handicap, staying on well at the finish of 2m 7f 185yds on good to soft (soft in places) with a rating of 125. Had finished a good 2nd of 11 the run before last, again keeping on at the finish over the same distance on soft. Should cope with today’s forecast soft (heavy in places) and hopefully will relish the step up in trip. Rating goes up to 132, but 11st 1lb doesn’t look too harsh with Stan Shepard, who has ridden him before, returning to the saddle.

CD winner here in September last year in a Class 4 under today's jockey. Running on well at the finish on good going with a rating of 79. Has had six runs since, which have all been on the AW, winning a couple of them at Kempton. Last run was a refreshing 89 days ago at Newcastle when finishing a maybe unlucky 7th of 14, as he was waiting for room 2f out but then could make no impression. Rating drops one point from that run to 94 from 95 on ground that suits.

Had four runs as a 2-y-o, impressively winning two of them in Class 3 and 4 on good and good-to-firm. Last run was on a maybe unsuitable, easier surface on good-to-soft (soft in places) off first rating of 82. Class 4 today, back on better good going with rating down to 80. Hopefully fully wound up after 207 days off, but most of the field are in the same boat. Tom Marquand retains the ride.

Rating went up to 99 and he ran respectably in a couple of Class 5s in December and January, which pushed the rating up to 100. He ran a not-too-bad 3rd of 4, only beaten 5 3/4L, on 13th March off the 100 rating, and then 7th of 10 last time out with a rating of 98. Rating today 97 with R. He was then off until his last run on 12th March, so maybe a bit ring??'rusty, but finished a good 2nd of 8 over 1m 4f 98yds in a Class 5 on Newcastle's AW. He will strip fitter for that run. Always a story to the winner, and this one runs for Richard Johnson, who didn't win the race as a jockey, and the horse gets in as a reserve. Won his outing before last over 3m 1f 125yds on good to soft. This CD winner went into my tracker after I saw him finish a not-too-bad 4th of 10 in a Class 4 at Wolverhampton back on 8 November, keeping on at the finish of 1m 5f 219yd with a rating of 80. He has had only one run since, on 1 December, when finishing 3rd of 6 over 2m 120yd with a rating of 79. The rating comes down another point today to 78 after the refreshing 123-day break. Interesting that S. Levey, who has ridden him before, comes back into the saddle.
