22:00 France v Iraq

France

Iraq conceded four goals vs Norway, so their main goal is to avoid another huge loss. Their bad luck is that France is one of the best.

William Saliba

Saliba was the last Arsenal defender to find the net in the last Premier League season, but Iraq has allowed one of the highest set-piece xG totals, so William has a good chance to score a header against a suspect defence.

Bradley Barcola

Barcola played well against Senegal as a used sub, so Didier Deschamps put him in the starting eleven. He is a fast player, strong in 1v1 situations, so he can create many attacks on the wings.

Norrby, Örebro and Sundsvall failed to score at Varberg's ground, while Landskrona kept a clean sheet against the Sandviken??"Helsingborg duo on the road. Good defense is an important point in the second tier. These are crucial games; the winner takes a huge step toward promotion. But at the beginning of the tournament both teams just want to stay alive in the race. 0-0

Both teams started the new season very well. They conceded the fewest goals in this competition. Moreover, the league goal average is not high, so the key is the elite defense. Both are strong in this regard, so a goalless draw is a likely scenario.

Varbergs is the leader, but they suffered a defeat in the last round. Landskrona is in a good position, too. Both teams have kept many clean sheets this season and have the two best defenses in the campaign. Varbergs have kept clean sheets at home, while Landskrona have done so away sometimes.

Every team played a draw in this group, but the significant gaps remained between the teams, and the big nations must show this; otherwise it can easily be a problem. Egypt's best players play in top leagues, and this experience will be enough against the Kiwis.

Cape Verde's heat map was extremely hot in their own box area against Spain, but Vozinha saved every attempt. He became a star worldwide; however, the team did not advance to the last 32 with that result. Uruguay failed to score many times in the recent period. Moreover, they drew against Saudi Arabia, so their quality cannot reach the best Uruguayan teams.

Uruguay played a goalless draw every third game in recent months. However, this will be just the second game since their latest 0-0. Cape Verde showed in the first game that they are ready to give up the attacks. A draw wouldn’t be a bad outcome either, especially for Cape Verde because they play Saudi in the last game.

Iran played a high-scoring draw in the first matchday. After this result, they still have a chance to play in the last 32, but conceding twice versus New Zealand is a big problem because that team has the lowest quality. Iran play with a defensive formation and only Taremi in the attacking line. However, I think the Asian team will fail to score today.

Belgium - Belgium

Courtois said in the press conference the team is ready and they want to win by a large margin. It sounds great, and it is a likely scenario because Iran conceded two goals against New Zealand, which is one of the weakest teams in the whole competition. The Rangers' midfielder is in great form. He scored many goals at the end of the season and found the net in the friendly against Tunisia. Moreover, he was successful in the qualifiers against Kazakhstan, so he is very effective against weaker teams.

Belgium play a very offensive formation and Lukaku's comeback to the starting eleven after less than 1 minute helped the team to equalize against the Pharaohs. The creative zone is ultra dangerous. Kevin De Bruyne is key in every attack and Iran will defend the net with all outfield players, so expect some long shots from distance until the first goal. KdB is a good player; he can strike, but he is also strong on set pieces (free kicks, penalties).

Both teams have a 5??"2 record and they follow each other in the rankings. The set scores are the same too. Moreover, the last three head-to-head games were decided in the final set, so the gap between the teams is really small. Daily form and the home court will be decisive factors. Ankara awaits the game. My pick: Turkey to win.

Yamal's debut in the World Cup. He is not 100% fit but almost ready to play an hour. Expect him to show everything at the start. Strong 1v1, and he is the key to break Saudi Arabia's wall, because I expect the underdog to defend with 11 men. Yamal's quality enough to break that and score the first goal for Spain.

Alex Baena

He plays as a winger in the national team. He was an unused sub in the opening game, so he must fight for a spot in the starting eleven. He is an attacking player despite being booked many times. He has had three seasons with 10+ bookings in a single season. The Saudi attacks will be dangerous and build up on the wings, so Baena will be one of the first men who must stop them.

Pau Cubarsi

The young defender developed a lot but was booked a few times in important club games. However, Spain's defense looks very good. The average age is young, and Saudi counterattacks can be dangerous. Cubarsi will get better game to game, but he is the least experienced in this defensive line. So if someone gets a caution, Cubarsi is the best choice.

This is my strongest pick for this weekend. He starts from the best position, but the start is always tricky, especially since the new rules. The inside lane is dirty, so sometimes P3 is the best position at the beginning because you get some boost. The rivals are so close, so a top 3 is not guaranteed despite Mercedes being the best constructor this season.

Mercedes is the best car, but Russell has small/big issues with the car depending on the destination. He said he cannot feel the car very well on some weekends. When he had a chance to win a race in Montreal a technical issue came up. He is good on one lap, but must learn how to manage the race and avoid thinking he is just the second driver in the team. Verstappen, McLaren and the Ferrari duo (okay, now without Leclerc) are hungry to win too, so expect a tough race for Russell despite P1. I think he will win.

George Russell - No

Top 6 Finish

50 WIN

@+900

My expectation is the same as last week. The Mercedes driver starts from pole position but runs a poor race or DNFs due to technical issues. The brakes in Canada and the gearbox in Monaco were the main problems for a few teams. The pressure is on Russell's shoulders and overtaking is very difficult on this track. However, the main straight is a good chance with the overtake button and DRS. The gap is small between the top teams, so I can imagine George finishing outside the top 6 after his mistake.
