I find this one intriguing because of the pedigree. By a Galileo stallion out of a Montjeu dam stallion. On paper, at least, he is blue-blooded, but whether that translates into a handicap hurdle win around Carlisle is anyone's guess.

The trainer had a 40/1 runner-up in the finals at Musselburgh yesterday, and I am taking a punt on her having this unheralded 6-year-old cherry ripe for the day. She had a decent winner in Velasco in the finals last year, so has shown she can target one.

I have taken a chance on this 6-year-old because sometimes jockeys make the difference. In a race where the standard of jockeys isn't top-notch, it might only take a half-decent one to win this race.

Yes, he's 12, but he still retains some ability, and he keeps coming down the weights. He gets Cobden on again, and I think the trainer still thinks he can bag one of these. He ran well in a Class 4 at Worcester on good ground when 7 lbs higher. I think he will reach the frame at the very least.

A case can be made for this relative outsider. Only six and therefore open to improvement. Out of a Nathaniel mare, so drying ground should suit. The case can be made that he is better off at the weights with Prince Of Perth through their collateral form with Not In Kansas.

Was becoming quite frustrating with lots of seconds, but only a six-year-old and improving all the time. Is a C&D winner and ran another good race last time out. Is an AQPS horse, and the 'J' crop of 2019 had an extremely good Cheltenham.

There are some strange jockey bookings in this for me. I like Transmission but the booking of Mullins has put me right off. O'Connell nearly and probably should have won this race already and there is just something about this one that makes me think he could outrun his odds. Pedigree on the dam's side looks solid.

Jumped like a wardrobe on hurdling debut but that was under a far inferior jockey and the intense schooling that went on afterwards paid off at the DRF. Still not the best jumper in the field but he looked like the second coming last time out. Only a 5yo and up against more mature horses, so that's the one real concern.

Old for a Supreme horse but he ran exactly the same time over C&D at Leopardstown over Christmas as the strong favourite. There's just something about this horse that makes me think he has plenty more to give.

This horse is out of a Montjeu mare. That in itself should bring some quality, nothing else in the race brings that blue blooded flat influence. Only 5yo so open to lots of improvement having now had four hurdles runs.
