To be honest, I am not sure why I am backing this, let alone napping it. This is a proper race and my head tells me an English horse will win. Il Est Francais looked the business for a while, and Coden is a brilliant jockey. Plus Nicky H and Ben Pauling both have horses you could back. Unless there is a deluge, I do not think it is soft enough for Gaelic Warrior.

Went to a Christmas party? This Lingfield meeting is not worth getting out of bed for. The fragrant Venetia W could easily have a few winners here, but I like David Pipe's horse ridden by the highly competent Rhian Corcoran claiming 10 pounds. This is Class 4 ??" is it up to it? Who knows. The handicapper has been chipping away. In this small field it has a chance. A lot depends on the way the race pans out.
