I do not know how long it takes a horse to adjust after having been racing in the United States, but it put up a fair show last time. Trainer Hayley Burton has been flitting around on the periphery of my vision, and she is obviously keen to be established. If you get winners, you should get horses, so I imagine it is trying a very tentative nap. It does have the ability and is probably better than its opponents.

Desdemona has not been shorter than 14/1 in its last nine races. Its second-last time out had a lot to do with the strength and prowess of Hollie Doyle. Today it has the services of Luke Morris, and if he can harness the horse's ability it has a chance. Tony Carroll, who appears to have the Midas touch in these races, saddles Second Collection ??" a danger no doubt ??" together with Street Life.

A tentitive nap trained by leading course trainer Mick Appleby it has not won a race for an age but looked to have a slight return to palatable form when running a well beaten second to Saytarr here at the end of January plenty of competition in this ,the race is a mile it was a bit free last time a similar performance will not see it last home

In its last race the last two furlongs the horse ran a bit like a punctured balloon(3 mile 2 furlongs) it finished second so it is conceivable it was made a bit too much use off I do not like backing 6 year old horses in 3 plus mile races ,this is 2m 6 f so assuming its recovered from its excertions it has a chance no more Skelton eager to be champion trainer has horses running all over the place and needs to slow down a little I feel

I love the way tippping racehorses can make you look an idiot but you keep right on.Sherlock is a maiden and drops down to 5 furlongs for the first time related to a few sprinters the move might just work keen in its races it has shown itself to have the requisite speed and the course conformation could suit .Shatin Venture at the foot of the handicap is for me an alternative

Not keen on betting horses that ran below form last time or that are running above their last winning weight unless they are serious improvers. But Ruth Carr has this out a week later, better drawn, and JP Sullivan rides. If it bombs, I will not consider it again for six months.

I am not a particular fan of the trainer, but the horse may have one decent run in him despite being 2nd last time. It was a fair race for the grade. Reasonable draw. Not sure about the weight, as it is more competitive than it appears.

I really think the selection should have won last time, but it has a disconcerting habit of jumping right, which, at a tight left-handed track, is not great. It also seems a little one-paced. Even if it wins, the Nick Scholfield horse is a little short in the market, though it has a great chance. The ground has to be holding to heavy, despite the going description, because it has been arky weather for over a month down south.

I shall no doubt be wrong, but I feel there is too much disparity in the price make-up. Nurse Susan should have no problem with the atrocious ground and has many entries at Cheltenham. The fact that Skelton runs here in this Group Two suggests to me he fancies some serious prize money.

This is a Class Two and I am far from certain the selection is up to it. The trainer runs two, both fancied in the market. To my knowledge this is the first time a claimer has had the leg up. Jack Callan claims five and he is an excellent pilot. Top and bottom weights, if they find their form, could surprise. A race to leave really for betting purposes.

Its previous race was a conditional/amateur hands-and-heels handicap, which makes the form slightly unreliable. The horse needed the race, but you would have needed a telescope to see it at one part of the race. Sean B takes the ride for Olly M and should run much better. Whether it should be as short as 13/8 is questionable.

Another maybe-horse came over to the Skeltons at the end of last year. They know their horses; he had a couple of runs over distances that were too short last time. It was a troubled passage race before the right trip. Harry S is riding. Could be a decent handicap weight. Definite chance if they have a handle on the horse and his abilities.

I actually fancy two horses in front of Sheldon, but they are far too short considering their racecourse achievements. Common sense would say the selection is unlikely to win. Ten years now his jumping can be a bit sketchy, but rooted at the bottom of the handicap with Pritchard claiming 3 pounds. If the race is run to suit, it has a definite chance and is properly priced.

I would not put anyone off backing Silky Wilkie, but you have to go back to 2021 to find Hierarchy winning two on the bounce. I am sure the late betting will be very informative. I cannot understand why the selection is so short in the market and must surely drift. Is it a 6-furlong horse? A veteran now. I am hoping the weight differential may work in its favour, but it is very much a maybe bet.

I always feel deeply nervous backing a horse in a race of this nature. One racecourse appearance a month ago, slight odds-on, well-beaten fourth over 7 furlongs to me showed elements of temperament??"not good. But it may have been showing its inexperience. Archie Watson's stable seems to be coming out of their barren spell. The price last time suggests it is liked. An extra furlong today may help, but stamina is apparent in its lineage.

Benvento clearly the class horse but top weight and not been out for over 200 days. Wiltshire looked like a Haggas stealth bomb last time, so possible James Fanshawe runs two with chances. I fancy Heathcliff carrying 9st 1lb and a pretty decent horse on its day. Ran a decent 3rd in a Class 2 recently, just running out of puff late on.

The form of the Venetia Williams stable at present is not good. There have been the odd signs that the stable is recovering. A couple of horses have been strongly backed. Hunter Legend is not one of them. The stable won the race last year. Lucy Turner takes off 5 pounds and the odds probably reflect its chances, but I feel it will run well, although there are one or two horses better handicapped.

I may be going mad, but I am backing TWL in this and I probably will still miss the winner. Cobden is probably here to ride Nicholls' bumper in the last. The selection finished second last time after decimating the field with the winner, but he ran out of gas 3 furlongs further today. Sticky going, but Fakenham is a sharp track, and assuming similar tactics are employed, he may be able to hang on. Pam Sly has a previous winner in the field, and while she seldom gets two on the bounce, it bothers me.

In all the years I probably have backed only a few winners at Chepstow, but this is a selection based solely on price. The favourite is a Skelton-trained French import who won well in France and could easily run away with this. The selection, however, is getting 7 pounds from the favourite today and 10 pounds from the other. A winner in this small field ran well enough when 2nd recently without screaming certain future winner. It may be between the two previous winners, but 3/1 is a fair price given all the facts.

Not a positive nap but a horse with potential to improve. Ran second to Maximising last time, who subsequently finished 4th in a Class 4, running on over 7f, beaten two and a bit lengths. This is a Class 5 qualifier for the Chelmsford Mile series, and Stuart Williams saddles Panelli. Williams is a bit of a Chelmsford king of late, but I still fancy the selection to improve and be there at the line.

He was as tough as teak, and if a little of that has permeated into the bloodline he has chances. Should be OK on the ground. Partnership owned, so if fancied should be supported in the market. Mud, mud, glorious mud. Beaten twice at odds-on in small fields. Despite appearances to the contrary, its heart may not be in it. A very tentative selection. Some form lines suggest it has a good chance unless one of the fresher horses takes to the conditions. But I think it may lack a little heart down in trip, and I think it is probably about a 7/1 shot.
