I doubt anybody reads my accompanying text, but assuming the horse is fit following 107 days off the track after transferring from Joseph O'Brien's Irish stable to Simon Crisford's, it has a fair chance in this deep race. The form of its last race in Ireland reads well, and while directly equating Irish to English is not always wise, it should be OK. It will like the ground, and assuming the horse has taken to his new home and is ready, Crisford is not a bustle-up merchant. It has a good chance of being involved.

For an old geezer like me, whose selections appear to have been picked by a parrot, I am almost beside myself to be getting 5/2 in the St Leger for an English and Irish Derby winner. This is a great race. Any one of them could improve on paper. Scandanavian is, of course, a horse appearing to improve race on race, and Stay True is also improving. Lambourn has a style of running that looks tailor-made for this.

Its last two races have been at Goodwood (all at sea) and Epsom, which took a while to get used to the camber. York is a very fair track, and I think it's a 25 to 1 shot, not a 50 to 1. Four places will probably finish about 7th, but on a going day, podium material.

Again, a rather pointless wager, but I am loath to go to set betting on this. When Iga destroyed Amanda on grass at Wimbledon, her opponent's nerves were palpable. My kitchen has flooded twice in the last 14 days. Not headline news, but I live on the south coast, and the going at Bath will be very soft indeed. This is probably a step too far, but with Isobelle Chambers' seven-pound inexperience allowance, the horse has 7st 13 lbs on its back. It's been off track since December 2024, but there are elements of its form after a break that read well. In the circumstances, given that it will love the ground, it has a chance to confound the market leaders.

My kitchen flooded overnight, and I do not live that far from Sandown. Relatively speaking, assuming the track encountered the same weather, it should suit the selection very well. Better at six furlongs, stamina will come into play today, but the horse is also effective at five furlongs and should love the ground. The draw could be an issue, however. Drawn wide may not be great, and as a result, it is probably a point or two too short. You could easily pass, but I like it.

Last chance saloon for me with this one. Coming down in the weights, down in grade, I suppose. Has been strongly involved in the market on the last 4 occasions but pretty much bombed out each time. Has to be in the first 2 for this, in truth, because you would be hard-pressed to find an easier race for a horse of quality. Weard, first-time blinkers, owned by Valmont, who have done pretty well with Beckett. Persisting with the horse suggests there is something there to work with.
