A bit high in the handicap. Decent rider takes off 3 pounds. Probably aimed for it. Looks a few wide draw, should be OK on the ground as long as it is not too holding.

I am not sure this is not a stupid bet. Won last time out in November 2025. Up 8 pounds, which is a hefty chunk. Jimmy Dalton won on it last time. Claims 7 pounds, 2.5% odd strike rate from over 100 rides. Well, you have to offset that with the ground. The ground is fine for it and it has a fair draw. Probably going to finish in the ruck, but a tiny chance. Despite being 5 years of age, it is improving.

Again, very dodgy first race for the Murphy stable since coming over from Ireland. Ran okay in a few pointers there. Shorter than it should be because it is a Murphy/Bowen combo. Plains Drifter is an obvious short-priced alternative. This may be a 'run and see' effort.

A mile-and-a-half amateur handicap on the A/W. Why am I backing this when I have a host of other betting opportunities? Answer: no idea. Won by a small margin a couple of weeks ago. Well ridden by, I presume, the trainer's daughter with the same name. Finishing off well. A similar attempt will see it involved.

Very much a toe-in-the-water job. Ran 5th in Constitution Hill's flat demolition at Southwell. Presumably to engender a little enthusiasm back into the horse; not sympathetically handicapped but 4 places and on and bumped back up in trip. It may be one of those horses that have lost enthusiasm, but assuming the extra distance is no problem, a small chance.

Usually these races are won by established hunter chasers. However, the selection is a classy, unexposed animal in this discipline and won at Fakenham despite it not being suited to its running style. Cheltenham should suit it better, and it is understandably overpriced.

Of course the two market leaders of Mullins and Henderson appear to hold the key, but I prefer, win or lose, to go with form that has been established. My Daddy Paddy and the selection both appealed to me. The selection may be found wanting, but it has a raft of top-class form and is proven at the highest level. The noise and roars surrounding the race should leave it unfazed. It is a gutsy horse who does not like getting beaten. Sometimes the large field can be detrimental to the horse's chances, but not in this case.

Marshman, despite running behind some of his rivals last time, showed he probably has the capacity for a seven-furlong event. This is a horse who, despite victories to its name, has never shown its true level of ability, which in its prime was probably true Group 2. A tendency for keenness in its running style has been to its detriment, but the passing of the years and education has tempered that enthusiasm. The price is too big.
