I am a huge fan of Saffie Osborne she is improving as a race rider all of the time and is close behind Hollie and Hayley in terms of having great hands and an ability to place a horse in a race as it unfolds this is not intended to be a sexist comment because I view all Jockeys as equal but the horses sometimes respond to a female rider in a way they would not do for a male.Jocked up by her dad and hooded for the first time if it helps the horse to settle gelded fairly recently it may well improve markedly market support will be a plus

The form of Shantou Express has gone AWOL of late and so it is dropped into a class four in an attempt I presume to kick start a return to form .the horse underwent wind surgery last Autumn and has been big prices in its 3 races since I am not a trainer but I am never quite sure of the philosophy behind dropping down in grade does the horse know? or has the trainer primed the horse for a return to form a man of Kim Baileys stature in the horse racinng world is no doubt highly aware of his charges abilities we shall see

The stable has a dire 4.92 per cent success rate at Catterick and apprentice races are not the sort of races a serious bettor should be involved in .The stable form is poor of late but that may be the majority of horses are badly handicapped.this is a return to turf for Murbih and there are some advantages to a win in an apprentice race . finished last on the all weather at Southwell last time but is very well handicapped now but is has been since Donald Trump last had a smile on his face but if ready can be involved evidence of late of a slight uprurn in the stables fortunes

Ryan M rider of Aiden O's Chief Little Rock rides the Epsom track better than any jockey since the immortal Lester I reckon it is a sighter for some of Aiden's bigger guns Defiance would have been my selection to turn over the favourite given that so many of Aiden's horses need an outing but so do Varian's so a small bet on Bellum Justum is my fancy it has not been out for over 250 days and who knows how much improvement has taken place in those winter months it may be business as usual for Ballydoyle I dont mind an odds on but not happy at this stage of the turf season

Ruth Carr seldom ventures to Epsom and she has a pretty fair record here with the small number of runners she does have Jojo at first glance would not have the speed needed for this Epsom being on a chalk base drains quickly and I would imagine at the time of racing it will be good ground .This is a decent class 3 so represents a rise in grade for the selection but at this stage of the season it may be a possible .In sprints as you know you need a bullet here and course form is useful I do not think the selection has any but has returned decent speed figures on ocassions .A few seasons ago Mountain Peak and Mondammaj would have been well fancied and are still dangers at prices but with 4 places I will have a small interest in the Carr runner

Ran second in a group 2 at Ascot in June last year then beaten in a four horse run by Pocklington on the all weather in March .I do not know why it was off so long it was odds on in Pocklingtons race but Pocklington may be decent and the horse lost no caste in my eyes by being beaten and is a decent price to get back on track

Mr Hampstead ran a decent race at the backend of last season finishing second to a decent Crisford horse however that was on the all weather they were the only two fancied in a small race they pulled well clear which you would expect it cost over a half a million dollars that is starting to become chump change the times were pretty good and providing it is fit because Varians horses seem to need a run is just about a bet
