Norway games tend to come with goals, and 3 of their last 5 have gone over 2.5. They have players like Haaland, Ødegaard, and Sørloth, who are all goal threats. Big favourites to beat Iraq.

Norway should have more than enough to beat this Iraq side. Many people see them as dark horses for the tournament, big favourites for this game, and they should come out with 3 points. A clean sheet is also expected.

Alexander Sorloth

It's very hard to see past Haaland, but getting over evens for a player like Sørloth, who got 5 goals in 8 qualifiers, looks value. He scored 13 league goals too last season.

Perfect opportunity here for France to start with 3 points. A Senegal side that aren't littered with superstars, while France's frontline looks frightening. Can only see a win for the French here.

France will still be hurting from Qatar, and will be expected to go far in the States. They have a favorable game they should win. If France keep Mané and Sarr quiet, a clean sheet should follow.

Really like these odds for Olise. The Bayern man comes into this in great form. He scored a hat trick for France in his last game against Northern Ireland. He managed 15 league goals in Germany and scored 2 in 5 during qualifying.

Bigger odds here and ones I like the look of. New Zealand have only scored in one of their last five and lost four of them, while Iran come into this off the back of three wins, keeping a clean sheet in two of them.

I think Uruguay will win this game. The South American side finished 4th in qualifying, have a world-class player like Valverde in midfield, and a very good manager in Bielsa.

Expect Belgium to get off the mark here. They looked very strong in qualifying and should have enough to beat African side Egypt, who will rely mostly on Mo Salah. Belgium are undefeated in 2025.

Most of the Egyptian players play for Al Ahly, so they know how to get the best out of each other, which could be a problem for Belgium. Egypt's frontline also includes Marmoush and Salah. I can't see Egypt getting any points, but a goal is more than likely.

Charles De Ketelaere

De Ketelaere is expected to lead the line for Belgium. He scored in their last game. Usually deployed as a number 10 for his club, playing as a striker at the World Cup shouldn't be a problem.

Belgium scored goals for fun in the last few international games, and I'm backing that to continue here at the World Cup. Egypt don't have the best defence. Attacking-wise they have good players, but Belgium should be able to take advantage of the backline and get goals. Backing 3-1.

A right mismatch this game, I feel. Spain should win and do so comfortably. They are rather solid at the back, so a clean sheet is expected. Many of the Cape Verde squad don't play in major leagues, so Spain should win by a few.

Ecuador only conceded the five goals during qualifying, and I feel they could concede in their opening game. Ivory Coast have a strong side, especially in the forward line, such as Diallo and Diomande. Ivory Coast are four wins in a row, including a 2-1 win at France. Ecuador have conceded in three of their last five. Big price, but happy to back it.

Netherlands would have wanted an easier game to start the World Cup. Japan are a very tricky opening opponent. Japan only conceded three goals in 10 qualifiers, scoring 30 and finishing top. Holland will have to be at it here. I do expect the Dutch to just edge this one.

Holland have the better side, I would say, but not as strong as they'd want to be. Holland face a Japan side who scored 30 goals in 10 qualifiers and are possibly the best Asian side at the World Cup. Holland have conceded in four straight games coming into this.
