Quite a tough opener this, with a few in with chances, but BALLYFAD could be the answer. Only just beaten LTO in the Tattershalls, 2nd, by a short head behind the winner Talk The Talk. Shaped before that as if a step up to this trip will bring out more. The yard has won this a couple of times and had the beating of King Rasko Grey from LTO.

Made it 3 from 3 over hurdles LTO in the Grade 2 Rossington Main Novices' Hurdle at Haydock by 18 lengths. Won with ease, impressively, and can follow that up with another win today. Trainer had decent winning form in this race and looks the one to beat.

Fulham will be hard to beat at home, and they aren't in bad form. They've seen off Boro and Stoke so far in this cup, which weren't the easiest opponents. They do, however, concede lots of goals and did so against Boro and Stoke. Southampton are in decent form and scoring goals. They will be well up for this and can at least find the net today.

Newcastle have been struggling recently and are hit and miss at home. They have a few injuries and concede plenty of goals. Man Utd are playing well, and even when they aren't they are still winning. It's crazy what a decent keeper and a back four can do to a team. They have been fairly solid and have pace on the counter. Confidence is high at the moment, and they should be too good for a low-confidence Newcastle.

I can see Wolves having a good go here at home. They are capable of causing problems and nicking a goal against a vulnerable Liverpool defence. Liverpool have been in good form, but I do feel they might be more vulnerable in this midweek game. They might underestimate Wolves a little, but they have been scoring well themselves, so should score.

I can see Chelsea causing problems for Arsenal here. The hosts will be getting nervous now their lead at the top is just 2 points. They are usually fairly solid at the back in these big games, but with nerves in play and Chelsea capable of scoring goals, they could be vulnerable. The visitors haven't been in the best form recently. They do sometimes turn up for these games, though, and despite not having Arsenal's quality to call on from the bench, I do see them having enough to score. Arsenal have plenty of attacking quality, not only on the pitch but on the bench, and they should score themselves no problem.

These two sides don't win many games. Brighton have 2 wins in 14 in the league, while Forest have 2 in 11. Brighton are at least difficult to beat at home, where they've lost just 2, but they've won just 1 in 7 here. Forest have been mostly poor away from home, but they are capable, having won 2 of their last 3 away games in the league. I can see this being close, and the draw looks likely.

Fulham are favourites here but at odds-on I don't like the look of them. They come into this on the back of two wins, but they've been hit and miss and struggle to keep clean sheets ??" 1 in their last 11 games overall. They are not trustworthy enough to back at odds-on. Spurs are getting a little desperate now. Looking at a tough run-in and with teams around them looking capable of picking up points, they'll be getting jittery. That said, I think they'll get something here. They've been better on the road than at home and, despite current form ??" 1 win in 12 in the league ??" they have scored in 10 of their last 11 games. They will have a couple of players returning for this and I can see them scoring 1 or 2 goals. That will make this a close game, with the hosts probably netting as well. Spurs to avoid defeat looks likely to me.

Man City have the momentum behind them coming into this, and scoring goals isn't an issue right now. That said, they are vulnerable at the back, especially away from home. Leeds are usually hard to beat at home, and with the crowd behind them they usually give the big teams a tough time. They do have a goal or two in them, and if they go at City they could get a good result.

Leeds could push City close today. The hosts are unbeaten in four overall. They've drawn with Liverpool, beaten Chelsea, and drawn with Man Utd here. They did lose 4-0 here to Arsenal not long ago, but they won't be wanting a repeat of that, and they usually turn up for these big teams. City are always vulnerable away from home, and although they have momentum and the title to chase, they might not be given an easy time here.

As good as Liverpool have been recently, they've only covered this handicap once in the league since 13th December. They don't cope well with having to break down stubborn sides, and if West Ham come here looking to frustrate, they might get a result. The visitors have been hard to beat recently, losing one of their last eight overall. Could be close.

Newcastle's away form and cup wins make their recent form look a bit more respectable, but they have won just 1 of their last 6 league games. They do have a goal in them, but they concede a lot. Everton have lost their last 2 games but gave Man Utd a decent game on Monday. They hadn't been in bad form before that, and their away form is decent: 6-3-4. They've only failed to score in 1 of their last 9 games and, after a couple more days' rest and preparation, might get a result here.

Spurs have a poor record at home and they are well in a relegation battle now. They did hold Man City to a draw here a couple of weeks ago, and if they turn up they can cause problems. They will be motivated by the fact Arsenal dropped points in midweek and will want not just to get themselves away from the drop zone but to dent Arsenal's title hopes even more. Arsenal will be feeling Man City breathing down their necks. Their recent record of 'bottling it' could well play a part; nerves will definitely be felt. If Spurs turn up here we could have a cracking game with goals from both sides.

They would love to dent Arsenal's title hopes even more, not only try to save themselves from the drop. Arsenal have been more vulnerable at the back this season than previously. Palace are odds-on here for the win, and I'm guessing that's mostly down to Wolves' poor away form. Going on current form, Palace have won just one game in 15 overall, and their last win at home (one of just two) was back in November. Wolves have been hard to beat recently, unbeaten in three games, and despite a poor record away, they've held Man Utd, Everton, and Forest away from home recently. Man City will be desperate to close even more on leaders Arsenal. They've certainly been getting the job done recently, but they can be vulnerable at the back. The turnaround against Liverpool was big, and seeing Arsenal drop points will have boosted them more. This could be close given Bournemouth have been hard to beat recently. However, I think West Ham can at least avoid defeat here at home. They've been improving, and with safety within sight now, they've got some momentum behind them. I like their striker Castellanos, and with players like Summerville, Bowen, etc., they've got some creativity and delivery. Bournemouth are not an easy side to play against, but they do concede a lot of goals. Could be close, but at home West Ham might just nick it.

Stoke have been struggling, but they will see this as a chance to take them away from their domestic struggles and try to put in a confidence-boosting performance. They are capable of causing problems for Fulham, especially if the visitors make a few changes. Fulham are not having a great time domestically themselves. They should really have enough quality to win this, but they've been vulnerable this season and have kept just one clean sheet away from home. Wolves will provide them with a tough test, but with changes likely and the fact they don't keep clean sheets away from home, I can see the hosts scoring.
