Teahupoo

Daily Racing

50 WINNAP

@2.50

Win

75

The form for these stayers goes round in circles. Teahupoo won this in fine fashion last year and was as good as ever in defeat at Cheltenham. Perhaps up there too soon when in front turning in and led towards the last when winning the race the year before. No mistake when taking this, but again the main danger comes in the same colors. However, Hiddenvalley Lake has a poor record against Home By The Lee.

Win

26

Had no right to finish 3rd at Cheltenham but did, and I feel that is the quality and determination that Majborough brings to the table. Cannot jump or make as many mistakes if it tried today, and being pulled up would have been acceptable after sprawling on landing. Surely, it has to win.

Many of these ran in the same Cheltenham race with Sixandahalf (2nd) coming out on top, but the odds on don't appeal. Given that Jane Eire was 10th in that Cheltenham run, it doesn't inspire much confidence. However, Henry De Bromhead provided the winner in March, and it's possible the selection has improved, so it's interesting that she takes part.

Not much value in a race of this size, but two from two in cheekpieces over 2m. The other race being 2m5f at Cheltenham when a no-show. I think The Other Mozzie has claims with a clear run.

Up a furlong after a 7f win at this venue and was wearing a visor for only the second time, so interesting with it left on for today. Distance seems to be a confident decision and was due to run at Nottingham 1m, but an abscess prevented that. Should be over it by now.

Just two runs on flat and three all career for An Bradan Feasa, who ran away with it at Catterick 1m4f, with the other run 1m at this venue. Jockey is a winner for yard last year 1/3, and so they would seem to have some good cards to play with just a 5lb penalty.

Kats Bob has obvious claims but has gone up 9lb for Thirsk success and faces a tougher 6f today. With that in mind, Mister Sox could be the one just for running at this trip. All three wins at Catterick: two at 6f, the other at 7f, and the record over 6f is very good. Two wins on the easy side of good and two beaten runs on heavy ground, including a gutsy effort when C/D 2nd. Although the ground might be an issue, I would give solid chances.

Albert Bartlett form is solid in this, and Jasmin De Vaux comes into this having won it this year and is fresher than some past runners. I think it's interesting that she isn't re-opposed except for the top one, Argento Boy, who was 100 lengths behind at Cheltenham and has also run at Aintree. So the way looks set.

I think Fact Or File benefits from not having a favored trip, but rather that it travels so well and at pace that it would have a chance at any distance. Marine National is an obvious danger, but what did it win by taking Queen Mother?

Lecky Watson

I think Lecky Watson is the form choice from Impaire et Passe in this, and both are from the all-conquering Mullins team, which gives him a stranglehold in this. He had more time to get over the race, given it came at Cheltenham, when surprising many, including stablemate Ballyburn, who didn't have the run of the race.

Form is poor with Karl Burke re-opposing the 4-year-old favourite in a race that favours 3-year-olds. He also has Victoria Harbour, who was quoted as eye-catching on her 9f debut at Wolverhampton, and a big price to cause an upset.

Jonbon's record precedes him, but 2m might not be the trip in the future, as shown at Cheltenham. 5/5 at Sandown, but that could change today. Given the price, Mullins' runners may not be the ones, and a surprise could come from Unexpected Party. The reason being 2m running times at Cheltenham between Jonbon and selections' 2m times.

I don't think that it was a coincidence that Kitzbuhel ran first. Two runs for Mullins on a right-handed track, winning both, and that showed at Aintree when jumping to the right to finish a creditable 5th in Grade 1 stayers. Lucky Place needs no introduction and is a forecast horse for me.
