I thought there was plenty of encouragement to be taken from his reappearance fourth at Perth last month as the course really doesn't suit him. Back to the C&D of his last victory, which worked out really well, I fancy him to reverse form with reopposing winner Jimli's Island off 16lb better terms.

It is fair to say that Sputnik has something to prove after disappointing in 3 outings for his previous trainer this summer. However, I see the change of yard as a big positive and he is just the type that should appreciate a change of scenery. The nine-year-old certainly seems to like this C&D and he's potentially chucked in if back to his best.

Paid the price for going with a progressive winner last time out when finishing fourth at Worcester last month. Dropping in class, it's surprising it is one of the rags. Quite a few of those returning here are better known as chasers, and they may need the run. This makes it an appealing each-way shout off 1lb lower.

These types are always interesting after a break, particularly given that she is up in distance by a mile. I'm sure the market will guide as to her chances, but as a half-sister to the smart Langer Dan, she has to be better than her current rating.

I did this last time when well punted at Perth. He certainly looked fresh, but fell early on after amassing a big lead. Sean Bowen now takes over and I think this is the perfect C&D for him to make all.

Paid the price for racing the reopposing Thornaby Pearl when weakening late on at Chester last time. Honestly cannot work the price difference between the two as the selection clearly travelled better and looked the more likely winner. He is even 1lb better off here and has the best draw in 9. Goes in conditions, be a bit gutted if he can't go close, particularly dropping into class 6 company.

This is a really tricky race and this one certainly seemed to improve a ton when winning readily on heavy ground at Ffos Las last time out. With conditions the same here, hopefully he will be involved off 5lb higher.

They like to land a touch with this one judged on last year's romp at Wincanton off a 7lb higher mark and these types are always more interesting on the back of a break. He is also entered tomorrow here and a few of the books have started to cut at opening time. Hopefully today is the day.

It is fair to say that little was expected on his handicap bow when sent off at 50/1 when last seen in March at Taunton, thus the betting was correct. I imagine they wanted to keep his novice status for this season, so it's too early to give up on him. If the five-year-old could run to his Uttoxeter fourth then he should go close here. Stable are in better health now and Twister takes the ride.

She has strong form if judged on her last two runs at this course - the latest when beating Horn Cape here in January, who is now 18lb higher. She was out the back on the reappearance at Cartmel, similar to Carlisle last year before winning at Newcastle. The more rain, the better, providing the nine-year-old is ready to roll

I can't help think that they've been messing about running this over a mile of late, when it's clearly a stayer. Certainly not disgraced recently when beaten only two lengths at Musselburgh and the six-year-old has nothing to fear as a C&D winner on his return to 1m5f. Goldie loves this Ayr meeting and a huge run is forecast with Mulrennan taking over the girl.

This five-year-old certainly has a bit to prove after pulling up here in March, but I saw enough on his previous starts to suggest that he can land a race of this nature. He is 12lb lower if taking Dobb's 7lb into account and he posted an encouraging third on his hurdle/seasonal debut here last October. Very interesting to see how he fares on some quicker ground.

Finished third behind two subsequent winners at Nottingham on his penultimate outing and he was far from disgraced when finishing in fifth off a 6lb higher mark on the all-weather. Reverting to turf, he is 7lb lower than his third-placed effort if taking Wilkie’s 5lb claim into account. Seemingly friendless in the betting, if I have learned anything of late, don’t be scared to go against the grain.

He isn't the easiest to win with as pretty much a slave to the pace. There is certainly no guarantee of a strong gallop today, but hopefully Taste The Fear will go for it. If so, Lihyan is the sort to pick up the pieces and he's big enough to chance.

I'm not convinced he has stayed over further on his last two appearances after travelling sweetly into the race. I think this 2m7f trip is perfect and, as one of the quicker horses in this contest, he should go close if it turns into a dash. The only concern is the absence, but the price is big enough to chance.

Honestly can't believe the price of this one. He would have undoubtedly finished closer over C&D on his penultimate run but for being hampered and he showed up well for a long way before not seeing out the 7f at Chepstow LTO. Effectively 7lb lower here with Wonnacott's claim, just never a 66/1 shot in such an open finale.
