They've had quite a lot of rain since the final declarations yesterday and you will struggle to find something that wants cut in the ground. BREDON HILL DART was given a lot to do when finishing a never-nearer third over an extended 2m5f distance on heavy ground here and looked like he was crying out for today's longer distance. It is easy to forgive the chase debut on good ground and I think the son of Dartmouth should be a single-figured price.

I did this last time, where it was truly terrible. However, I did mention that the cheekpieces were missing, so perhaps the time has finally come for the horse to come good. The Flemensfirth gelding is 28lb lower than last year's triumph at Fontwell, and I just can't help but feel it has been plotted.

It is fair to say that she was less than fluent in the jumping department here last month, but I liked her finishing effort to finish sixth. The application of first-time cheekpieces looks like a good move, and I just wouldn't be surprised to see her outrun her odds.

There was definite promise on his fifth-placed handicap bow at Leicester last year and we've seen this trainer gain wins out of ex-Simon Earle horses since training from the same yard. Hopefully the step up in trip will bring about some improvement as well.

BRINGSTY has improved on the Flat since his four qualifying runs over hurdles and the books look to have taken a big risk pricing him so big on his handicap hurdle debut. Trainer landed quite the gamble in the 4:05 at Hexham (Saturday), so the market will be telling.

He was unlucky to bump into Pooroldmackley on his penultimate outing at Newton Abbot as that looked set to go close off 10lb higher but for making a bad mistake 2 out the other day. BEGIN THE LUCK can be forgiven the latest run on ground too quick and, if any of the forecast rain materialises tomorrow, then he looks capable of going close. Moreover, Beau Morgan being back on is also a big positive (won last two times he's ridden the nine-year-old).

Having already played Hello Marie, I think that DAMEKAP is worth a play too. Seamus Mullins' mare shares a similar profile, point-to-point background, three qualifying runs under Rules at massive prices and is debuting in handicaps off a basement mark. If she can't do something now, then chances are the six-year-old never will.

Honestly, I just cannot believe that the books want to price this handicap debutant so big. If they actually watched her last qualifying run they would have seen that she showed up well for a long way before, presumable, fitness told. They've saved her novice status for this season and won't get any lower in the handicap. I think an opening mark of 74 could be a gift.

I really don’t think you will see a better stable debutant. We’ve already seen Hughie Morrison improve Eyed 25lb from the same yard and I think this six-year-old showed more form for his previous handler. It was smashed up last week, but pulled out because the ground was too quick. Sean Bowen is now on board, so you know it's down to try.

Ran a strange race on his reappearance at Plumpton last month, surging to take it up, but ultimately folding late on. Perhaps he needed it and I just can't get away from this horse off effectively 10lb lower as his Flat ability suggests that he should be a lot better than what he has shown over hurdles.

Landed a gamble over 3m at Taunton in April and no idea what she was doing over an extended 2m2f here last month, where she really ran better than I expected in fifth. The daughter of Mahler looks a dour stayer and this extended 3m2f trip is right up her street. Cracking price and I'm hopeful of a big performance.

This is quite the price for a last-time-out winner. The nine-year-old got to the front too soon at Uttoxeter last month and I honestly think that race was as good as this one. The stable are flying and a 3lb rise in the ratings is workable. A cracking each-way price if you can get 3 places.

Usually gives his all here and his latest third over C&D off 13lb higher reads extremely well. A pipe-opener without the usual cheekpieces at Perth last month should have blown away the cobwebs and this race looks extremely winnable.

City Derby. Having scored on his last four appearances at this course, CITY DERBY has to be of interest on his return. The nine-year-old had a nice pipe-opener over an inadequate extended 2m3f at Carlisle last month, and he is now only 2lb higher than his latest triumph here. I think the stable is hitting new heights at present, and how can the son of Ask be priced so big? Will have a smaller bet on another course specialist in Tommie Beau as well.

Looked set to go close but fell at the second-last at Carlisle in February and subsequently suffered a wound when running in a class 2 there. Dropping into class 5 company and first-time blinkers look like big positives. The stable is starting to fire, and I think we could see a big performance.

Looks like they ended last season by just trying to get him lower in the handicap, which certainly worked. The seven-year-old is now 13lb below his last winning mark and these types are always interesting on the back of breaks. I would have liked to see cheekpieces back on, but certainly not one I would want to be pricing this big.

I thought he shaped with definite promise on his sixth-placed handicap debut at Chepstow last month, particularly given the 742-day absence and sharp distance of an extended 2m3f. He ran out a 15-length winner of a 3m point-to-point back in the day and I’ll tell you something, this horse is one helluva looker. The fact they are still over hurdles suggests that they have unfinished business in this discipline. Is there actually a better jockey than champion rider Sean Bowen at the moment? Definitely shouldn’t be the outsider of the field.

Did this the other day when pulled out at Stratford. Paid the price for trying to go with an unbeaten handicapper at Ludlow and ended up finishing fourth last month. Dropped 3lb and now only 1lb higher than her seven-length victory at Hereford in November last year. Love the way this mare attacks her hurdles and think she should make a cracking chaser.

I do think that stable debutant Leading Force is a crazy price and he's worth taking on. LIZZIE REY travelled a lot kinder in first-time cheekpieces when scoring on her penultimate outing, where I thought she had something in hand. The subsequent quick turnaround can be forgiven and Richard Phillips' mare is effectively only 1lb higher than her triumph with Finn Lambert able to claim his 5lb.

I do believe the betting in this race is off. Wudya and Masked Dance are far too short. Masked Dance finished behind the selection on her penultimate start at Chelt, so how she is 4/1 compared to 12/1 is beyond me. Midnight Ginger could easily find something too good, but the nine-year-old is a live threat dropping into class 4 company. Might dutch, will see what the market does.

This six-year-old was called a few names last season, but he was unlucky to bump into subsequent winners on the three occasions that he finished second. I believe that he's still ahead of his mark and I'm a big fan of Sheehan taking over in the plate. Fitness is taken on trust, but I like it when they send just one horse this far.

This race looks pretty desperate and I am convinced that Wotsmyname could finally shed his maiden tag. He's travelled a lot sweeter since being fitted with cheekpieces and I believe the eight-year-old has every chance off a 9lb lower mark than his latest fourth at Kelso, where he only gave way on the run-in.

If anyone happened to watch this on his handicap bow here last time out, it is fair to say that he was tenderly handled. Probably didn't want to lose his novice status for the season ahead. Very interesting that Conor comes down to ride and I'm sure he is better than his current mark.

Super unlucky to bump into Mermaids Cave at the beginning of her winning run (now 25lb higher) at Fontwell and the betting seemed to know that the eight-year-old was subsequently finished for the season. The Jamie Snowden-trained inmate makes her return after a 334-day absence, but I doubt she will be lacking for fitness on this long journey north. Unbelievable chance if reproducing her penultimate second.
