Its A Love Thing

It’s A Love Thing looks primed to go one better after two strong recent performances. Last time out, he ran a cracking race to finish 2nd at Musselburgh behind 9/4 favourite Sportingsilvermine in a competitive Class 4 handicap over 1m4f a race rated around 5lbs stronger than tomorrow’s contest. Before that, he was narrowly denied at Wolverhampton, going down by just half a length to Media Mogul. Now dropping back in both class and trip, with a less demanding field in front of him, conditions look ideal for a bold showing. Form, figures, and placement all suggest he’s ready to strike. A good win candidate at 9/2. Good luck!

Lethal Nymph looks well placed to go close here after an encouraging effort last time out at Newcastle over 6f in Class 3 company. He attempted to make all and stuck on gamely to finish just a length behind in 3rd, showing clear signs of returning to form. He now drops into Class 4 company a notable ease in grade, with the average rating of this field around 5lbs weaker than what he faced last time. He also runs off a mark 9lbs lower than his last winning rating, suggesting he’s handicapped to strike. First-time cheekpieces could sharpen him up further, and with the same jockey retained and the slightly shorter trip likely to suit, this could be the ideal setup for a return to winning ways. Good Luck!

Bang On The Bell heads to Windsor in good form and looks a big player dropping into Class 5 company. Last time out, he finished a strong second at Wolverhampton, just behind Cinque Verde, the 4/1 joint-favourite, in a race rated 10lbs higher than tomorrow’s contest. That was a clear sign he’s still competitive at a higher level. Two starts ago, he also ran well at Chelmsford in a Class 4 handicap, beaten only 2.75 lengths. Now slipping down to a mark of 68, having been as high as 86 just last November, he’s very well treated at the weights. The step back into slightly calmer waters should suit him perfectly, and with conditions in his favour, he looks a cracking each-way bet at 8/1. Good Luck!

Starliner returns after three consistent runs, including a strong 3rd in a Class 4 handicap at Thirsk where he posted a career-best turf speed. His penultimate run saw him just denied by half a length behind Cusack. The overall level of this field looks around 10lb lower than the race he contested last time, and Tommie Jakes’ 5lb claim is a big plus. Looks a solid each-way chance here. Good luck!

Toptime ran a decent race last time out over this course and distance, finishing just 2.5 lengths off the winner in 6th. That was a solid effort from a middle draw in a big field. This time, he’s drawn wide, but that should actually help him, as he likes to race up near the front and get across to the rail early. Lewis Edmunds is back in the saddle, the same jockey who rode him to victory at Southwell, and Toptime has already won over this track and trip before. If he gets out well, he could be right in the mix. Good Luck!

6:25pm ??" Doncaster (NAP) Oriental Prince ??" 10/1 (Each Way) Oriental Prince looks a solid each-way play here. He steps back into a Class 3 handicap after an eye-catching effort in a Class 2 at Musselburgh over 7f, where he finished a close 4th, just 2.5 lengths off the winner. That was a huge run, especially considering the trip may have stretched him. Prior to that, he landed a Class 6 contest and was unbeaten in his three starts over 6f, showing serious consistency. Back over his ideal trip and down in grade, he looks primed to go close. With Paul Mulrennan back on board who guided him to three wins, everything points to a big run. Good luck

Dare To Shout has been a model of consistency this season and looks well placed back in calmer waters today. Last time out he stepped up to Class 2 level at Kelso over a longer trip and ran with credit despite the tougher opposition. Before that, he finished a close second behind Ned Tanner at Carlisle over 2m4f, the same trip he tackles here, beaten just 2¼ lengths by a horse dropping in grade to win well. Dropping back into Class 3 company, where he’s already finished second five times, he looks ready to go one better today. Good luck!

Roger Rarebit looks well placed here after a solid fourth at Haydock over an inadequate 2m4f trip, where he still posted a strong speed figure despite being 12 lengths behind. On his seasonal reappearance before that, he was a good second at Warwick over 3m, carrying 11st 11lbs and shaping as though he’d come on for the run. Now dropping back in grade, having been running above today’s level on my figures, he looks primed to go well. He also has a good record fresh, so the short break shouldn’t be an issue. Looks a strong player at 7/1. Good luck!

4:05pm - Plumpton Knickerbockerglory ??" 12/1 (Each-Way) Knickerbockerglory lines up here after a solid and consistent campaign this season, including a close fifth at Sandown where he was beaten just 1¾ lengths by Go Dante, carrying 11st 6lbs. Today, he benefits from a 4lb drop in the weights and looks set to get an uncontested lead a huge advantage around Plumpton. On my figures, there’s very little between the main contenders, Absurde, Our Champ, Daddy Long Legs and Knickerbockerglory, with just 3lbs separating them. Given that, Knickerbockerglory looks overpriced at 12/1, especially coming off a career best in both speed and performance last time out. With rain forecast from 1pm, the likely cut in the ground would be another plus for him. All in all, he looks a strong each-way play at a double-figure price. Good luck!

Numitor is thriving since switching to veteran chases, winning his last three completed starts. His Cheltenham win two runs back was a standout performance, beating a strong field with the form holding up well since. Although his latest win at Ascot was in slightly weaker company, he did it comfortably and stepping back in trip today looks ideal. He races prominently, handles testing ground, and has proven himself at Grade 1 tracks this season. Up to a career-high mark, but James Bowen knows him well and he’s clearly still improving. Big chance if continuing his current form. Good luck!

Rising Force looks primed to go close here. He comes into this on the back of two solid efforts in Class 5 company over a mile, and now drops into a weaker Class 6 contest. Last time out, he ran a blinder in a deep 21-runner field where the average rating was 64 ??" tomorrow’s race has an average rating of just 49, and the top-rated horse is 5lbs inferior to what he faced last time. Not only does he face weaker opposition, but he’s also set to carry 10lbs less than he did in that recent effort, while running off the same mark. Bill Joyce takes a notable drop in class, moving from highly competitive Grade 2 novice hurdle company into a handicap. Last time out, he finished third in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham, a race won by Sixsmilebridge, who secured a hat-trick of victories. The runner-up, Potters Charm, had also been in outstanding form, arriving with four straight wins. The strength of that form suggests Bill Joyce has been running in a far deeper level of competition than what he’ll face here. With that experience under his belt and a step down in class, he looks well-placed to capitalize on this easier assignment.

Bad comes into this race in outstanding form, having won his last two starts while showing progressive improvement in class, weight carried, speed figures, and overall performance. Each run has demonstrated a clear upward trajectory, proving he can handle stronger competition. His latest victory at Kempton, a sharp track similar to Aintree, was impressive. He showed a good cruising speed, traveled strongly throughout, and found plenty when asked, suggesting he still has more to offer. Despite going up in weight, he carries 6lbs less than in that win. Given his consistency, proven ability to step up, and strong positioning in my ratings, the 16/1 price represents value. He looks primed for another big run. Good luck!

Rubaud arrives here in great form, having won a competitive Grade 2 at Kempton last time out with a career-best performance. The race before that, he finished just a length behind L’Eau Du Sud in another top-level Grade 2 novice chase. That form ties in nicely, as L’Eau Du Sud recently ran a big race against Jango Baie the strong favorite here. Jango Baie certainly looks the one to beat on paper, but history isn’t on his side, with only one of the last 11 favorites winning this race. Rubaud, on the other hand, skipped Cheltenham and should be coming here fresh and ready to fire after two progressive efforts. Worth a shot at the price, good luck!
