Showed promise as a juvenile making the frame in each of his final two races last year. Subsequently joined Harry Eustace and made promising stable/handicap debut at Epsom in July. Disappointing efforts since however, including in three outings for his current handler. Latest effort at Newcastle wasn't without merit however as he ran well for a long way before fading in the last quarter of a mile. There's nothing in his pedigree which would suggest he'll improve for today's extra half mile, but if he does stay he could surprise. He's undoubtedly well handicapped if rediscovering his best as he runs off an eighteen pounds lower mark than at Epsom.

Willie Mullins fields six of the eight runners in this Grade 2 chase, but I'm happy to take them all on with the Joseph O'Brien trained Banbridge, who should be sharper for his return to action at Navan last month. The form of his win at Punchestown in the Champion Chase in April confirmed him as a top drawer chaser, and although conceding weight all round will be a tough task, he's relatively lightly raced and may still be improving.

It's going to take a herculean effort but perhaps he can live up to his name and defy top weight in this competitive chase, in a rare venture into handicap company. He won six of his seven races last year, and was keeping high class company in his two defeats in the spring. His return to action at Naas last month will have served to put him spot on for today, and an experienced claimer is able to reduce his burden by five pounds.
