What I have noticed with racing: supporting horses that are bigger the night before can be achieved. Brave Empire might be of interest at 14/1. Jason Hart has the ride to finish the night off. Brave Empire has yet to win for trainer Ivan Furtado since this horse came from Roger Varian's yard, who won with him at Lingfield in a Class 2 handicap with a mark of 94 in February 1994. Tonight Brave Empire is racing off 70, twenty-four pounds down, and has a good draw to figure from in stall four. He has had a wind operation and has raced twice since. He had a run in a claimer over seven furlongs; this may have been used to let the horse feel he can breathe cleanly. His last run was in a Class 5 handicap at Newcastle over five furlongs. This may have been on the short side but was also used for speed building, which can see this four-year-old having an edge and being a big player over six furlongs.

The Gentle, Mensur Suljovic, from Vienna, is ranked 60 and has two televised titles to his name. In 2016 he was in the top ten. Like most players, he has declined somewhat with age, which explains this low ranking figure. He still has the capability of seeing off Canadian David Cameron, who managed to reach the last sixteen of the World Championships in 2019. Cameron may not be going further than this round this year, with The Gentle nailing the doubles for sets.

Neither of these players have met before, and Ritchie Edhouse is the favourite to win this match. Jonny Tate might be a big price and is up against it. I have to give him some credit, as he did get to the quarter-finals at Lakeside in the WDF. Jonny Tate is from New Zealand. He went out of the World Series to Rob Smith 6-4, scoring three 180s and averaging around 86. Ritchie Edhouse is world ranked 27. He can show substance with strong scoring. At 47 years old, he is capable of producing higher averages than his opponent to win this game.

Jonny Tata has to find form as he has lost six games on the bounce and, being in the Aalborg Pali colluded, may be seen with stage nerves that could affect his play. Edhouse is used to this standard of play. With a high rank of 27, he can display solid scores, helping to win legs and sets.

Would not be surprised if Jonny Tata from New Zealand gives Ritchie Edhouse a game, taking legs and maybe even a set. Ritchie could then pull out the stops to secure the win 3-1.

Ritchie Edhouse will have the major support of the crowd, being English, and this can help a player over the line. This possibly helped Paul Lim to win his match yesterday. Jonny Tata from New Zealand might find the banter favouring the home player off-putting, causing him to underperform and leading to Ritchie winning the first set.

Jonny Tata from New Zealand has the ability to make his presence felt by holding his own and upsetting Ritchie Edhouse by taking a set, but eventually going down 3-1. Edhouse scores higher with 140s and 180s, plus secures finishing doubles for legs and sets won.

180s are in the makeup of both players, and they may be equalling each other in this area. One may score a 180 and the other may come back by hitting the same score, which can make some legs closely contested.

Might be looking at over 6.50 with these two players on the stage at Ally Pally, getting cheers from the fans as 180s are scored in combination. This will only occur in some legs, which may lead to four each or even five at best.

Gavin Cromwell stable runners have turned the corner and are running well. This can see Serienmond coming good with Keithan Donoghue in the saddle. He can have the Sea The Stars??"sired grey gelding striding out well with accurate hurdling, which can make them a serious player at the finish.
