The first was at Southwell, where he finished fifth and was keen. The winner, Durham Castle, went on to win a couple more races, so the form has substance. He was second at Wolverhampton on his second outing, finding Grey Jaguar 1/2 length too good and was giving the winner two pounds. His last run was over five furlongs, which may have been over the short side. That could be an angle for speed building to show a turn of foot here that can see him winning in his first handicap.

What I have noticed with racing: supporting horses that are bigger the night before can be achieved. Brave Empire might be of interest at 14/1. Jason Hart has the ride to finish the night off. Brave Empire has yet to win for trainer Ivan Furtado since this horse came from Roger Varian's yard, who won with him at Lingfield in a Class 2 handicap with a mark of 94 in February 1994. Tonight Brave Empire is racing off 70, twenty-four pounds down, and has a good draw to figure from in stall four. He has had a wind operation and has raced twice since. He had a run in a claimer over seven furlongs; this may have been used to let the horse feel he can breathe cleanly. His last run was in a Class 5 handicap at Newcastle over five furlongs. This may have been on the short side but was also used for speed building, which can see this four-year-old having an edge and being a big player over six furlongs.
