Iroko has shown himself capable over longer distances consistently, placing towards the top in each of his last four chases. A fourth from 34 runners in the Grand National was a highlight. He also had a first and second place finish in December and November, respectively, riding under the same jockey today, Jonjo O'Neill. I think he will be close.

Looks a pretty open race. With six places being paid, it's worth looking at some higher odds in the market. Paddockwood has two wins from four over hurdles. Both of those wins were at this distance and on ground rated very soft. Cheltenham is rated good to soft on Tuesday, so I think this horse can go well.

With reasons to doubt the leader in the market, we look further down at Steel Ally. 16/1 as I type this. Looks a solid entry: three wins from three chases, being ridden today again by Dylan Johnston, who has ridden him in each of those victories. Should go close.

Would likely be heading into this race with four wins from the last four over hurdles if not for a fall at the last at Leopardstown in December under the same jockey today, Slevin, who knows the horse well and should be in contention for victory.

Russell looks the guy to beat. He was 0.785 seconds ahead of third-place Hadjar in qualifying, who I don't see troubling the top two. The two Mercedes are on the front row today, and Russell has the experience to win today.

Can only see a Mercedes top two here, barring any kind of reliability issue. The Mercedes were a full half second ahead of Hadjar in the Red Bull in qualifying. I expect a top-two finish for them.

After crashing out in qualifying, he will be starting at the back of the grid. There are some concerns about his wrist after that incident. Sky Sports reported he was sent for an X-ray. I don't see Verstappen reaching the podium today.

I expect Hamilton to have a points finish. He was strong all weekend in practice and put in a solid 7th place in qualifying. I don't see any of the cars outside the top 10 having the race pace to beat Ferrari. Only reliability will be an issue.

Hadjar was mighty impressive all last season for a debutant and now finds himself in a notoriously difficult car to handle. But if he can handle it, it's a car capable of hitting pole position on any day. Odds of 100/1 are too big to ignore each way in an unpredictable opening race.

Kimi Antonelli ended last season pretty well, picking up a 2nd-place finish in Brazil and 3rd in Las Vegas. By all accounts, the Mercedes is a strong car this year, as seen by teammate George Russell being favorite for this race. I think we are overlooking his capable teammate.

Whenever I watch Crystal Palace, Mitchell always ends up in the box at the end of chances. This Tottenham side is in disarray, with injuries all across the backline. Pedro Porro may be back in the lineup tonight after injury, and he's a very attacking full back, so this should leave space on the left.

Larsen has looked really sharp since signing from Wolves. He scored twice on his debut and went very close against Man United too. He was taken off in the 58th minute in that game, so he will be sharp tonight playing against a Spurs defense that's conceded 43 goals in 29 games.
