MOONLIT POTTER showed a respectable level of form over hurdles, winning on her second start over the smaller obstacles and backing that up with a second in novice company. This season has seen her switch to chasing where she started in handicap company off a mark of 108. She ran well on chasing debut when just touched off over today’s trip. She was raised 2 lbs for that effort and was pulled up relatively early on her next start after a bad jumping error. She weakened on soft ground when finishing a tailed-off fifth off a mark of 110 last time out. However, her jumping was good and back on better ground today, she should fare much better. She will race off a mark of 108, which is where she was on chasing debut when beaten by a nose over the same trip and similar ground as today. She is lightly raced for a 7-year-old and she remains open to improvement. A clear round of jumping should see her go close.

There is much-publicised issues both on and off the field for today's hosts but there have at least been some encouraging signs in their two most recent performances. This 5-year-old mare won three times in sixteen starts on the flat in France. All of her wins came over 1m1½f. Her first start over hurdles for this yard saw her win over 2m in a maiden hurdle at Huntingdon last time out, finishing the race off very strongly. She didn’t look the most fluent of hurdlers but she can be expected to improve and should take plenty of stopping despite having to give weight away to all her rivals today.
