With only four races under her belt, CONSENT is far less exposed than most of these in this race. She was a winner over a mile at Thirsk on debut. She was narrowly beaten on her second start before staying on well to win over 1m2f in July of this year. She stepped up further in trip to 1m4½f in a Group 3 at Deauville last time. She went off the 11/4f that day but failed to get a clear run. She did well to finish second and hit the line very strongly, suggesting a further step up in trip today will only further enhance her chances. This Group 2 will demand more from her, but she looks very progressive and will likely be a big danger.

Having struggled to make an impression on her first two starts, TWO FOR JOY got rid of the maiden tag at the third time of asking when winning at Cork (1m2½f, Good) last time. She kept on well that day, suggesting that today’s step up in trip will suit. She edged left late on last time, and so the cheekpieces are on for the first time today. She’s a nicely bred sort, being a daughter of Wootton Bassett and trained by Aiden O’Brien. The trainer has two in the race, and the market suggests that this is very much the second choice. However, there is every chance this one has been overlooked by the early prices and at the current price, there does appear to be some value. It would be no surprise to see this progressive sort go off shorter.

MYFAVOURITE FRIEND is a five-year-old with two starts to date. He finished last of seven in a Ladies Pro/Am Bumper (Killarney, 2m1f, Yielding to Soft) on debut, making little impression. However, the most recent start (Ballinrobe, 2m½f, Good) was highly encouraging. Ridden prominently, he hurdled well, and whilst he was eventually beaten by 8½ lengths in fifth, he stayed on well over today’s trip. He went off at 50/1 that day having drifted from his opening price, suggesting little was expected. Big field maidens like these often throw up big improvers at bigger prices, and the selection has at least shown signs that he is capable of winning a race of this nature. The same 7lbs claiming jockey (Calum Hogan) gets aboard today, having given this gelding a good ride last time. It would be no surprise to see this one outrun his current odds.

This is my best tip of the tournament. Amanda Anisimova should be the favorite for this match, in my opinion. She leads the head-to-head 6-3. She has won 2 of their three previous meetings on a hard court, and she beat Sabalenka at Wimbledon this summer. She will have the home crowd on her side, and Sabalenka is known to struggle when the crowd goes against her. I think that frustration will get the better of her here. Sabalenka has a poor record in finals, and I think that she will come up short once again. At odds-against, in my opinion, Amanda Anisimova is huge value in this match.
