The Lion in Winter has shown he's got the ability to win at this level. The Epsom course is too complicated for some horses. He sometimes goes over the straight mile. Today, with a middle draw, he has a stablemate to ensure the pace will be genuine, and a top jockey in Ryan Moore to do the steering. The yard wins these types of events all the time, so no surprise. He wears the headgear for the first time to stop his head going high. This could be the making of him at this level. He won on reappearance and the plan was always this race.
