20:00 Belgium v Egypt

Belgium, despite a rag-tag squad of injured veterans like Lukaku and De Bruyne, have managed a thirteen-match unbeaten run heading into their opening group match against Egypt. Egypt themselves have proven tough to beat, not losing any of their qualifiers on their way to their third World Cup. I think it will be a cagey affair, similar to Brazil vs Morocco, where teams look to bed themselves in. Worth a play on Under 2.5 goals this evening, as two of the last three internationals for both teams went this way. Egypt held the mighty Spain to a 0-0 draw back in March of this year. They did that with ten men also.

Belgium captain and Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans has scored in three of his last eleven internationals since 2025. He looks worth a play for an anytime goal at 5/1 tonight, after the favourites scored the opener against Croatia earlier this month.

Belgium #1-0

I think this opening group match between these two nations, both top thirty in the FIFA rankings, will be a tight and cagey affair. Goals will be on the low side with two solid and committed plans to contain the opposition. I fancy Belgium to narrowly shade this 1-0 tonight.

Egypt v Brazil friendly saw just one card produced for Egypt's left back Mohamed Hany. Belgium had three in their win over Tunisia. Both play solid defensive systems and do not make many rash challenges. I think the Under 3.5 cards at 4/5 looks good value.

I think the Asian Handicap looks generous on behalf of the competition favourites Spain to defeat minnows Cape Verde. I don't think Spain will have any issues against Cape Verde. Just as Germany dispatched Curaçao 7-1 on Sunday, I think they will win by at least four goals this evening. Spain at -2.75 goals.

Like Germany yesterday, I am expecting a cake-walk performance from Spain, but perhaps a few glitches in the mix such as allowing Cape Verde a sniff of a chance to score. I will opt for a good, solid 4-0 win, with the tournament overall favourites beginning their group stage in style and confidence.

03:00 Sweden v Tunisia

Asian Hcap

In this Group F opening match, Sweden has the double-edged sword of Isak and Gyor Kjose with their Premier League experience and international pedigree to power Sweden. Tunisia, ranked 45th, are only seven places behind Sweden. But I feel class will win, as the Swedes' club valuations are about six times higher in market value. Sweden to win.

Viktor Gyökeres has scored in three of Sweden's four matches played this year. He has a Premier League winners' medal and played in this year's Champions League final as well. Perhaps a disappointing first season for the Gunners, but for Sweden he has been in red-hot scoring form. A goal against Tunisia at any time has to be backed.

An interesting and competitive opening fixture in Group E this morning, with 23rd-ranked Ecuador of South America facing 33rd-ranked Ivory Coast in their first-ever meeting between nations. Ecuador have an amazing run of 19 games without defeat, many of them clean sheets or narrow wins to nil. Ivory Coast is no pushover, though. I feel the South Americans should enjoy the conditions better and earn a win.

Ecuador #1-0

The bookies make this one a very low-scoring evaluation. With the stifling defensive nature of Ecuador, undefeated in 19 matches in a row, it is not hard to see why. I feel they can frustrate the more adventurous Ivory Coast and sit back and wait patiently for their moment. 1-0 to Ecuador, my correct score prediction.

Ecuador are known for their stifling, disciplined defensive midfield, who are not prone to making a tackle or two. Ivory Coast are physical, and I can see this one developing into a card war. Playing the Over 3.5 cards this morning. The match referee, Michael Oliver, tends to dish out an average of five per international game participated in.
