The 6f handicap at Newmarket on 2,000 Guineas day is the key piece of form, won by More Thunder and had a few of these back in the field. Seems rejuvinated after running over 1m2f or so last year when trained by Stoute. The switch to Haggis and the decision to run over 6f has produced two runs and two wins. Had something in hand on both wins and a bit more improvement will see him take this.

Hopefully the first Japanese-trained winner at Royal Ascot. Second to Ka Ying Rising (said to be the best sprinter in the world) at Sha Tin at the end of April which is the best form here. If he aclamatises, he wins.

Tough glob-trotter middle distance performer who usually wins. Normally contests Group 1s so this is a drop in class. Gets 1m4f and further and will act on the fast ground. Al Riffa needs softer, Ghostwriter is not good enough. Al Aasy is interesting, doesn't find anything under pressure but seems in good form this season.

Appeared in a lot of the top 2yo races last year. Fifth in the 2,000 Guineas then third in the Dante. Stayed on well in the Dante and his pedigree suggests he will get further. He has the proven form whereas the others may have more improvement, but they would need to improve.

Contraversial winner of theFrench 1,000 Guineas, but probably the best horse on the day. Has a good turn of foot and a very consistant performer. Many of the other flopped in the Irish 1,000 after promising runs in the English 1,000 so difficult to access. She was supplemented for this so connections must think she has a big chance.

Third in the 2,000 Guineas, was a bit free so this shorter 6f should help. Made his move 2f out and within a few strides he was in front - then outstayed and out battled finishing a close up third. The speed between 2 out 1 out was impressive and looks like he is more of a sprinter that a miler. Clear choice on form.

How impressive was she at York over 1m2f+ at the Dante meeting last month, winning a Group 2 by 12l - that doesn't happen very often. It could be that the race was poor and she beat nothing (those behind have not done anything to frank that form) but the time was good. She was only beaten 3l in last years Champion Stakes (behind Anmaat) so could be one of those fillies that improve from 3 to 4. She needs to give her run as late as possible and not get into a battle with Los Angeles.

Very impessive over 1m1f at Newmarket last month, held up at the back, cruised through and then let go just over one out, winning easily. Had a couple of today's rivals behind her that day - Elmalka beaten 4l+ and Running Lion beaten 8l - and hard to see why they should reverse that form. Looks banker material.

None of these have tried this trip (1m6f) but Shackleton won over 1m1f as a 2yo at the end of September, a long distance for a 2yo and suggests he will be a stayer. Had a prep run over 1m2f at the Curragh last month, getting outpaced in a Group 3 contest. Looks a fairly weak race.

Very impressive in the Irish 2,000 Guineas, winning by 3l+. Ruling Court was prepared for the Derby just over a week ago (pulled out last minute) so can't be an ideal preparation to be re-routed here. Henri Matisse is the danger, battled on well to win the French 2,000 Gunieas in a good time. Field of Gold looks a top miler who will be held up, but not too far back and shouldn't have any travel problems with only 7 runners.

Big step up in class here after winning a Listed contest at York in mid May - travelled well and kept on in the final furlong as was always going to win. Broke a bit slowly which is a concern but could be running on at the end to grab a place.

Good winner of the Lockinge over this trip beating Dancing Gemini, Rosallion and Notable Speech, going away at the finish. This stiffer mile will probably suit him even better. Could lead or tuck in behind Quddwah which will be another advantage as the other fancied runners will be held up, may get too far back round the bend (this race is on the round course) and could also have traffic problems.

No match for Delacroix at Leopardstown in last month's Derby trail, so on the face of it, he has no chance. However, that was his first run of the season and over 1m2f. Today is 1m4f, and that will suit much better. He will have no problem with the trip after winning over 1m2f on heavy ground as a 2yo. Many of today's runners are not guaranteed to get the trip, so as the pace increases as they come down the hill 5f out, Tennessee may get outpaced but will be staying on at the finish to grab a place.

Big question mark over her stamina. Will she stay 1m4f? On pedigree, it's a stretch, but she stayed a mile as a 2yo, so that gives a bit of hope. The same stamina doubts can be said for many of the others - not many will get this trip on breeding. Desert may have to rely on her class to get this done as she's well ahead of everything else on ratings. A couple like to lead, so Desert is likely to drop in behind the leaders, cruise until as late as possible, and then use her speed to kick on and hope to last out.
