Presley ran OK on debut at Chepstow to finish third. He was held up a little more than was ideal that day and still beaten less than three lengths by a filly getting the allowance. Harry Skelton rides for the first time at a track the yard generally do very well at.

Good Boy Bobby has been a grand servant to his connections over the years. He's been a fair-class chaser, goes well fresh, and acts well in soft ground. Even at thirteen he might be good enough to win one more time. His form last year was still very decent in the context of this race, which leads me to want to risk a few bob on him.

Everything looks in place for Henri The Second to get back to winning ways. Let's hope the meeting gets the go-ahead. He loves Sandown, goes especially well in deep ground, and represents the Nicholls/Cobden combo. He's only raced twice this season so far and was a good second on ground that was too lively for him last time. He was second in this race last year off a two-pound lower mark. This looks like the race he's been aiming for this season.

Williethebuilder has gone from strength to strength lately. He was a fine second at Doncaster three runs ago against one who was primed to the moment, and very well in at the weights. He has since won at Kempton twice in the manner of a very decent handicapper. His latest rise in the ratings is challenging, but I think he can defy it.

Assuming My Silver Lining doesn't make a similar howler to the one she made last time, she has a fine chance of returning to winning ways here. In hindsight, she faced an impossible task when finishing second to the very progressive Grand Geste in the Tommy Whittle at Haydock before Christmas. She's generally pretty reliable, has winning form here, and acts particularly well on soft ground.

This doesn't appear to have a great deal of depth about it despite the number of runners. Kool Raoul was a bit disappointing at Musselburgh on New Year's Day, but I would put that down to him not being quite ready for the step up to three miles. He had run some decent races prior to that, and he did run a very good race in a bumper at Kelso last February, suggesting he is up to winning at this level. If things work out this time, he could pop in at a very nice price.

I know Rattling Road hasn't fired this season so far, but at 16/1 he is a huge price racing on a track he likes. If the wind operation has done some good and he finds a rhythm with his jumping, he can run a big race. In the vain hope all eight go to post, this is an each-way bet that could deliver.

I think the bookies may have got the betting a little wrong here. They go odds-on Spadestep and 7/2 Pony Soprano. It is true that Spadestep's form reads well, especially after Jordan's Cross won again at Cheltenham on Saturday, but he does have an annoying habit of finishing second. I would also be slightly concerned that he might not relish the likely very soft conditions that look sure to be encountered. Whilst, on balance, Pony Soprano's form isn't quite as good, he still looks like a progressive novice chaser from a very in-form yard.

Jenny Candlish had a really quiet second half of 2025 due to the infection that hit her yard. Things are definitely on the up given her recent results, and Dancing Bay might be able to land this ordinary heat at a decent price. Dancing Bay put up his best performance so far here ten days ago and might still have some improvement in him, as he has only just turned four.

There's a short-price favourite in here who may well win, but he is absolutely no value at his revised rating. Old-timer Balqaa looks a definite possible to upset the favourite. He usually goes well here and ran an encouraging race last week at Southwell. My main cause for optimism is the current form of his yard. Since the new partnership of Tony Culhane and Stella Barclay has been appearing on the racecards, they have seen their runners perform really well. Hopefully Balqaa can keep that run going.

Heads Up was runner-up in the Champion Bumper at last season's Festival, which points to him being a strong stayer in the making. Since then he's won easily at Listowel over an inadequate two miles, and then was a fine second here at the November meeting. The winner that day, No Drama This End, may be a bit special, which makes that form particularly attractive-looking.

Grand Geste is quite a short price for the Great Yorkshire, but given the manner of his win in the Tommy Whittle at Haydock last time, that seems fair enough. This stable is renowned for producing good-class staying chasers, and Grand Geste looks the next in a long line of those.

Fergal O'Brien sounded quite hopeful about That'll Do Moss's chances here when he was interviewed at Catterick on Wednesday. Moon d'Orange attempts to win this tough handicap for the second year running. His runs since then haven't been great, but he is still young enough to improve on past performances. If you take into account his jockey's three-pound claim, he is actually carrying two pounds less than last year. He handles very soft ground, which will be helpful given the current state of the ground.

This is probably a race that should be avoided for betting purposes because most of the runners have question marks against them. However, I think King of Ithaca might well follow up his win here last time out. It's true he now races off a higher mark than ever before, but he does like the track. James Tate is enjoying a good week, and that sways me to risk a few pennies on King of Ithaca.

This is a very ordinary race where none of them really inspire any degree of confidence. Annandale isn't particularly reliable but is capable of winning off his current mark. He won from four pounds higher in August. He ran fairly well here last time, so perhaps he will run up to his best this time. What would be good is the race being run at a fast pace, as coming off that would suit Annandale.

One of the most competitive handicaps of the season in Ireland, with a very strong field assembled. Jordans has the whiff of a plot around him. He was a very good second in the Mildmay at Aintree in April and hasn't been over fences since. His two hurdle runs this season look to have been markers to ensure his fitness when the expectations are greatest, possibly here. He's undoubtedly a progressive young chaser, and Joseph O'Brien is excellent when targeting races with his better animals.

I can't help thinking that this looks the most interesting race on the card, with a few interesting newcomers on view. I quite like the look of Broadway Dreamer, who comes from the very in-form yard of Fergal O'Brien. Broadway Dreamer is a son of Nathaniel, a sire whose stock are inclined to need time to mature and generally require a bit of cut in the ground. He looks a fair price given the connections.

Heather Main has brought Zoulu Warrior along nicely and steadily, and got him to win his last two races. Nicky Nicholls is not a trainer who spends cash on diesel if he doesn't think his runners have a chance of collecting some prize money. It's a long way from Greystoke to Windsor, so my thought is that Nab Wood goes to Berkshire with a chance. He does have decent form, enjoys cut in the ground, and will stay this trip. If ever a horse deserved a big handicap win, it's Vincenzo. He finished second in the big Cheltenham handicaps in November and December, and hopefully he can go one better here. If Myretown is able to run up to his winning form in the Ultima at Cheltenham in March, he should be capable of winning this. He didn't shine at Newbury in November, eventually falling, so there is a niggle that he might not hit the heights expected of him. Nonetheless, he did look quite special at Cheltenham, and this looks like a good opportunity for him to get back to winning ways.

In d'Or had some decent form last season, including winning this race when owned and ridden by David Maxwell. He had a nice seasonal debut at Sandown last time and should be spot on for this challenge.

The Russell/Scudamore yard haven't quite hit their normal highs this season, so it's worth being a little wary of their runners until it becomes clear they are back firing on all cylinders. If they are on the way back, I think Caballo de Guerra could be very well treated in this handicap. He looked quite impressive when winning a Kelso novice earlier in the season, and wasn't disgraced when upped in class after that at Cheltenham.

I think Captain Butler may well be a cut above the opposition here. He is still very lightly raced, and has shown enough over hurdles to suggest he can rate higher over fences. He ran an odd sort of race at Aintree last time, not jumping perfectly but getting an odd sort of ride from Craig Nichol, who knows him well. He was quite edgy in the paddock that day, requiring two handlers to keep him in check. Ruth Jefferson can usually be relied upon to get the best from her horses and should have him in a better place for this weaker-looking race.
