Personally I don't think it looks a great Chesham, and it's winnable by a debutant who can use it as a stepping stone to a future Group race. Stable and jockey are in great form, and I think it's likely they have seen enough at home to enter this horse here. Can get among the 4 places.

I'm surprised Ghana are slight favourites for this, as FIFA rate Panama (34) thirty-nine places higher than Ghana (73). That is higher than Scotland, Poland, Wales, Czechia, Greece, etc. They look better value to me.

It looks a good each-way price with four places on offer, and I doubt this one will be this price at the start of the race. The stable were perhaps a little unlucky in last year's race with Military Order, who didn't have a clear run. That horse runs again here, and jockey William Buick deserts him for this one. The horse was a decent three-length fourth at Sandown LTO in a class higher. The draw looks fine.

The horse was 1.5 lengths third in this race last year when going off as the 4/1 favourite. Stall 12 that day looked negative (stall 5 won), but stall 6 looks better here. No good LTO at Chester, but that was two classes higher than this and Chester doesn't suit many horses. Should do much better at this course and at a level he can win at.

From the top, Joseph O'Brien's Irish stable are obviously targeting this race nowadays, with a 2nd, 3rd and 4th last year. They will be aiming to go on better this time with their multiple entries. Colin Keane was on the best of those last year, and he gets the ride on this horse, who wasn't too far away when 4th of 15 in the Chester Cup LTO. This trip looks ideal based on that, and stall 20 looks fine (first five last year drawn 6-20-16-17-5).

Might be worth a go that last years shrewd winning trainer Henry De Bromhead has another up his sleeve with this one. The horse likely showed the trainer enough in a Maiden hurdle over 2m at Leopardstown in December that this distance could suit (outpaced in 5th). Draw looks fine in 19.

In a team of youngsters, so much will depend on him, and he will know that taking opportunities when they present themselves is going to be very important. I think this is a very good price for this horse, who has run well enough in two handicaps so far to consider here. Both were over further, but a return to this trip should suit. Based on his run at stiff Navan last October over this trip, his mark could be anywhere between 60 and 80 (had a now 100-rated horse behind), and he runs here off just 57.
