Interesting debutant from a Newmarket stable who have a 15% record here at Newcastle. This filly is a full sister to an 86-rated winning filly in Ireland, who won over 6f. Wears a tongue tie on debut, suggesting the stable know plenty about her.

Decent run in a bumper here back in November to run Ballyfad to three lengths when 3rd. That horse is now a 149-rated hurdler. Backed that up with a 3l 3rd at Ayr a month later, again in a bumper. The 2nd in that won next time out at Huntingdon by 11 lengths. Lost three places on the run-in on hurdles debut LTO, but slightly better going and 3f less to travel should be much more in his favour.

Can get amongst the 5 places on offer. Finished a 12L 6th of 15 in The Greatwood here over 2m back in November 2024 on good ground. Followed that up next time out by winning at Ascot, having Kabral du Mathan behind, who is now rated 154. It was 17L back to the third that day. Generally poor since then, but did improve for the increase in trip LTO and may well do so again. Could have a very good handicap mark.

No horse has won this race in the last 12 runnings as low as 133, the lowest being 135. He is from a stable that does well in this race. He finished a 3l 4th of 7 over CD back in January, which makes his mark look about right, with probably more to come.

This doesn't look like a vintage renewal and may well go to a stayer who is unexposed at the trip. I think there's a lot in this one's pedigree to suggest he can play a part at this distance. Finished 4th in the Irish Gold Cup, 9 lengths behind Gaelic Warrior, who was 2nd, but only a neck behind double Gold Cup winner Galopin de Champs.

Price is way too big and can get among the 4 places on offer. Willie Mullins has won three of the last six and jockey Harry Cobden has won this race twice, once at 18/1 and the other at 33/1. The horse is a classy flat horse, placed in a Group 2 at Doncaster back in December on good ground. This is his third hurdles run, winning the second of those by 11 lengths. Officially rated at 140 but could easily be better than that. Much depends on whether he can see out the trip, but can get among the 4 places.

There is really no reason to look any further than Willie Mullins' runners in this race. He has won 5 of the last 6 runnings and, unbelievably, won last year with a 100/1 shot. This horse had this year's Fred Winter winner, Saratoga, nearly 3l behind on his stable debut. That was on heavy ground and he needs to show he can do it on better ground. He comes here with plenty of flat racing experience in France and is clearly decent and open to improvement. Can get among the 4 places.

Meets some key trends for this race and was going well LTO until a mistake that cost him the race, finishing 8L off the winner and looking like the winner until the mistake. Needs to iron out any tendency to make that mistake again, but he's with Willie Mullins, who has won the last four runnings of this.

Another who has a decent Dosage profile that could well see an increase in distance, bringing about the necessary improvement. Last win was on Good/Yielding, and arguably his best run came in a large, competitive field. May well enjoy toughing it out as others weaken.

Lulamba, although classy, can fall behind, whereas Kopek comes here with an unlikely preparation. Kargese is tough as old boots but can still be outdone by the selection, who is clearly progressing and on OR only has 5 lb to make up on Kopek. Needs to improve 10 lb to get ahead of Lulamba, but I think that's possible at this track.

This one has been talked up in a few of the previews and looks a class act based on what he's achieved so far. Nicky Henderson has done well in this race in the past and can get off to a good start here. Some have said this one is built like a chaser, but decent horses who have gone on to excellent chase careers have won this before.
