Expecting Daiquiri Bay to go close here. Had some good runs last year in handicaps. Placed 3rd in 12 runners at York over 14f at 8/1 in August. Won well in 8 runners at Newmarket in a Class 2 handicap over 12f last time out at 16/5 on return last month. 4 lb up today, but the step up in trip should help. They won only 7 games out of 18, but they do have a lot of experience playing in this part of the world. The Spain??"Cape Verde draw will be boosting their confidence for this one. They have a good record against Asian teams: won 4 of 5 games and drew 1 (against South Korea in 2022). Saudi Arabia had a mixed campaign, but I expect they will play well today. These two teams met in 2018 when Uruguay won 1??"0. I expect them to win in a much more familiar part of the world this time.

South Africa played well in the qualification campaign. They were unbeaten in 10 matches and managed to win 6 games. Czech Republic had a tough campaign and finished behind Croatia with 5 wins and 2 defeats in 8 matches. They had to play promotional games and had tight 2-2 draws against Ireland and Denmark but managed to qualify by winning penalties. I think South Korea had a good group campaign in the last World Cup too. I think they have good value and are worth a shout to win this one.

This should be an easier game for Mexico. They won the Gold Cup last year, defeating the USA. They have shown excellent form in friendlies this year prior to the World Cup. They managed to draw with big teams like Belgium and Portugal and defeated many others without losing a game. South Africa topped their group to qualify for the World Cup. They are ranked 60th compared to 14th-placed Mexico. They haven't faced quality opponents in recent times. The two faced each other in 2010 when the match ended in a draw with South Africa at home. I think Mexico are worth a shout to win this one in front of the home crowd.
