It could be argued his last run can be ignored after overstretching a jump, and he is still well weighted on his win from a mark 2 lb lower than when he won a Class 1 event at Wetherby a year ago. He also won well enough here from a 3 lb lower mark two runs back. This dual course-and-distance winner loves it here. It is his first run back from wind surgery, and the visor is added back to the tongue tie he wore on that win. The stable have had two winners from their three runners, and he is reunited with his claimer who was on for his last win. A solid each-way option in an open race.

Ran an improved race last time out, finishing a staying-on fourth behind the current third favourite for the Triumph Hurdle in a trial race, beaten only four lengths. This extra distance will suit. Getting weight all round and first-time cheekpieces could bring out further improvement. He still holds an entry in the Juvenile Hurdle at the Festival and looks a solid each-way proposition.

Was always holding the runner up last time out when winning over course and distance and is up only 1 lb for that win. This is a better-class race, but the guaranteed fast pace and the course look like they suit this horse, who does little in front but has a fast pace to aim at. Looks a good each-way selection.

A tricky affair, with Mullins and Elliott responsible for seven of the nine runners. Mullins has a good record in it and won it last year with Grand National winner Nick Rockett. Captain Cody is being lined up for a similar tilt, and he can run well en route to the National. Although stable jockey Paul Townend prefers the classy Grangeclare West, Captain Cody showed a liking for the trip when taking the Scottish National last year and has form on heavy ground.

Can rattle up the hat-trick for his in-form team following an easy-looking win on his GB racecourse debut for this stable. The step up in class is justified, and the 4-year-old gets weight-for-age allowance from most of the other runners.

A wide-open Eider, as the top weight gives lumps of weight away all round, and Fortunate Man can benefit from that. A winner on his return, he then ran with credit at Sandown when third to Pic Roc. This extreme distance and track will suit. The 7-year-old's wins have all come on left-handed tracks, including at Newbury, which is a similar left-handed track to Newcastle.

A tricky race can go the way of Royal Infantry returning to handicap hurdle company following a race over fences and a 5th in a Class 2 hurdle in a good-quality race. He came cruising in that last race, only to find the rest too good. A return to handicaps can see him return to form.

If he can translate anywhere near his hurdle form, he is well clear in the ratings. In Nicky Henderson, he has a master trainer at bringing back horses. This confidence booster should help, and he can cruise at a high speed, which could spell trouble for many of these on the flat. His trainer will have him spot on for this, and he is worthy of the nap.

He can take this if he can get his jumping together. It was a mistake that stopped him last time out, finishing 4th. He is worth taking one more chance, as when he jumps well he tends to win and he won last year's Ultima at the Festival.

Has a very good record fresh, having won each of his starts barring a 660-day break. He has form over course and distance and on heavy ground. A very decent hurdler, he is yet to reach those heights chasing but could develop into a very useful veteran chaser on his first start in this sphere, and the stable are in good form.

He beat the current champion hurdler in a match on his return, then ran fourth to the classy Woodhoo over 2½ miles before finishing third in a 3-mile Listed event.
