7/12 winning favorites, 9/12 top 3 in the betting. 7/12 ran in the Lockinge. 9/12 rated 112+ and 7/12 had won a G1 already. It's likely that the Lockinge form won by Lead Artist ends up being the key here. From that, the 3rd and 4th, Rosallion and Notable Speech, did incredibly well on their first runs of the season. Notable Speech traveled much the best until the final furlong or so when lack of fitness told. Considering Rosallion made 11/4 favorite on the back of that, 11/2 here has to be overpriced and is worth a go each way 4 places where he shouldn't be out of those.

Backed for this after debut win at a time when the Godolphin horses weren't really firing, yet he still managed to win. Followed that up making all here at Ascot to win by a neck, giving 6 lbs away all round. Appleby expects improvement from that, and the step up to 6f could prompt improvement. Wootton Bassett, from an Invincible Spirit mare, is bred to be good. More than short enough now, however.

20/1 was available for this post-race at York when beaten by 4L by Inisherin over 6f. Looked the winner at one stage before seemingly not staying, so the drop back should suit. Newcastle win by 3.75L from Annaf was also impressive. The form of that race is solid. Wathnan has bought privately since, which is a pretty good sign. Interesting that Believing is in foal to Frankel, which apparently can bring about improvement.

Only beaten twice, once when running incredibly green and the second on soft which clearly doesn't suit. 2-time G1 winner including Breeders' Cup Juvenile Mile on firm. Had placed this bet antepost when Ruling Court was still a Derby runner, so I wouldn't be mad keen to have any more on now. However, I think he has his chance. Field Of Gold is clearly talented and is probably unlucky to not be a 2000 Guineas winner as well as the Irish equivalent. However, couldn't take odds on about one that likes coming from behind in what is really quite a deep race. Only ever seems to do enough, so not yet clear where his ceiling lies.
