Defiance1982's Tips

11th June 2026
12:00 World Cup 2026 Group D

Turkiye

Group Betting

50 WIN

Turkey are a strong side that like to get forward and put pressure on their opponents. We saw them make a decent effort back in 2024 in the Euros, so I think they will put in a good effort in the group stages. I can't see Australia, Paraguay, or the USA putting up a big challenge here. The latter, with home advantage, will probably take second.

Sweden

Group Betting

50 WIN

With both Györkös and Isak up front, Sweden will have the firepower this year to make them better contenders. There is something not quite right about the Netherlands this year, and Tunisia are not great overall to put in a challenge. Japan I can see being the threat, but they haven't beaten Sweden for a while now after a number of matches.

2nd at Nottingham most recently when returning from a 205-day break from the track, beaten by a horse that went on to win the following race. Competitive race here, but this pick has won previously in much higher company and should run well now race-fit.

Three wins in five handicap runs, including the latest at Kempton in a field of twelve when leading the whole way from the off. One of those wins also came on turf at Thirsk on soft ground, so should run well again for the regular in-form jockey.

Newtown Duke

Found a bit of form of late, with a win back in November at Newcastle when stealing victory on the line in a field of twelve. Came back from a break to take third at Chester in a big field of fifteen over a new distance of one mile four furlongs. Was rallying again on that effort, so there is a huge amount in the tank. Comes here on a similar mark with a slightly more in-form jockey.
20:00 Mexico v South Africa

Mexico - Mexico

Half Time / Full Time

50 WIN

Mexico have led five of their last seven matches by half-time at this stadium. I believe they will get an early goal here and be too strong defensively for South Africa to get anything from this game.

Mexico #1-0

50 WIN

The opening games are usually low-scoring affairs, and both sides are not exactly big goalscoring teams. Mexico will be the stronger of the two here, so I expect them to nick this by a goal.

Won in March after wind surgery at Huntingdon by a length before 2nd latest at Hereford in a field of nine. Was coming back from a 55-day break and was beaten by an odds-on favourite that day, who went on to win again. Handicap debut here.

Vince Le Prince

Back to favourite ground here with three wins and five placed efforts in ten runs in various classes over seven furlongs. The first two runs here both resulted in wins after poor performances, so another good effort is expected. On a nice low mark here, which is a big bonus.

22:45 Dow Championship

Khang/Thompson

25 EW

Both players partnered here last year and finished on twenty under to tie for 1st before unfortunately losing on a playoff hole. Thompson placed 8th the year prior with Brooke Henderson, with Khand placing 13th back in 2023 with American Lee Allison. Plenty of experience here to go again.
22:45 Principal Charity Classic

Kevin Sutherland

25 EW

Top twenty across the last three years in this tournament, finishing 9th, 12th, and recently 4th respectively, with improving scores each time. Recent form might explain the price, but worth a punt if he continues the upward trend here.

Miguel Angel Jimenez

25 EW

Finished 6th here back in 2023, then won this last year via a three-way playoff against Percy and Kjeldsen when he hit a birdie on the first hole. Finished 7th in the Insperity Invitational a month ago.

Rod Pampling

25 EW

Missed this tournament last year, but form prior has been superb. Took 3rd here back in 2024 on seventeen under across the three days, and 4th the year prior on fifteen under. Well worth an each-way punt here if he's picking up where he left off.

Stephen Ames

25 EW

Withdrew last year after three holes following a potential injury, but was absolutely solid here prior to that. Finished 2nd here in 2024 with a huge ??'19 and won this in 2023 with a score just two shots better. Took 2nd in the Mitsubishi Electric in April.
22:45 RBC Canadian Open

Ryan Fox

25 EW

Last year's winner of this tournament, via five playoff holes against Sam Burns after both players tied on eighteen under par. Has shown consistency here, following a 7th-place finish the year prior on ten under.
19th July 2026
12:00 World Cup 2026

Portugal

50 WIN

Finished in the quarter-finals in both their last World Cup and Euros efforts, losing 1-0 to Morocco and beaten on penalties by France, respectively. With this being Ronaldo's potential last World Cup for his country, we might see just that little bit more from a side that deal with fine margins.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Top Goalscorer

50 WIN

With Messi and Argentina winning the last World Cup, I think we might see a more inspired Ronaldo looking to do the same with Portugal this year in potentially his last World Cup. With Congo and Uzbekistan both joining them and Colombia in the group, this will be a great opportunity for this talisman to rack up a few goals before potentially meeting a third-place side like Paraguay to apply his trade.
