Denise Foster’s 10-year-old gelding RIDEAU CANAL has been a bit of a pain in the neck to follow, but I’m sure there is a win there to be had, even though we are now 0/19. I feel that if this son of ROBIN DES CHAMPS is going to pick up a victory, it will possibly be over this trip (3 miles) and running through the slop, with all his best form coming off testing conditions. This charge returned from a 101-day break last month, finishing 5th here over 2f (Heavy) and rallying late. If my uneducated brain is right, then finally all this lad’s boxes could be ticked. Staying trip, heavy ground, bottom weight, and Conor Stone-Walsh remaining in the plate all look favourable. Probably last-chance saloon here for me with this charge.

I'm happy enough to take a punt here on James Barcoe's 6 year old Gelding ELUSIVE PRINCE who seemed to be running a good enough race 18 days ago @Fairyhouse (Heavy) over this trip making some headway 3 from home before unseating 2 out. So we get another bite at the cherry but this time dropping in class. This Son of ELUSIVE PIMPERNEL has yet to shed his maiden tag but on all his 3 placed runs he's been keeping on off marks of 108-112 (now 92). Jockey Dylan Whelan gets a chance to make amends & sheds a very useful 7lbs. This yard is ticking over nicely at the moment & at current 20/1 odds dip my toe in with this Point to Point winner each way.
