Norn Iron has to be my choice. He did win a C3 maiden while hurdling back in April and has had two runs over fences since returning in December. While a distant second on C4 chase debut in December on soft, the third and fifth that day have gone on to win since. What also catches my eye is the booking of Harry Cobden, so I expect more today.

City of Diamonds won by nearly 5L on C4 handicap debut here. Although a bit down the pack at the start of this month here, he had traffic problems and could be involved today if getting a clear run. He seems weighted to be involved with today's C2 runners EW.

Welsh Charger

Welsh Charger won this last year when just 1 lb higher and spent the rest of that year in better company in G2, when fifth but only 2L from the winner, and G3 without getting in the money. As a result, he has been on a falling mark and could be ready to strike again, off a 127 today.

Gunsight Ridge won this last year off today's mark under Gavin Sheehan on heavy ground. The two runs prior he did not make it to the post. This year he has had two warm-up runs at the back of the pack and could be ready with Gavin returning today while back on a 142.

Hypotenus

Hypotenus is a bit of a long shot as this will be a big step forward. At the start of the month, when third up after wind surgery, he did win a C4 by 8L. While I don't think he will win this, he could have an each-way chance with 4P on offer, as he seems weighted to be involved in this step up to C2.

Insurrection returned from the break and was third here at the start of the month in C2. As I always expect more when second up after a break, he gets my vote. Especially as he has a very handy 7 lb claimer in the saddle this time while still on the same mark.

Kitzbühel has to be my choice. He made all to win in a G1 last time out at 3 miles for the first time by nearly 3L. He also won on soft/heavy at a shorter trip in November.

Diligent Harry won a G3 carrying 9-5 last summer after a break. Although he was only midfield for the last two runs in G3 and G1, I think the drop to listed company carrying 9-2 after a short break could be worth a shot.

Hartington returned from the break in Nov to a C2 win and followed up with a G3 second on soft, only missing out by a neck. While the latest run at the start of the month was duff, we can all have a bad day. Worth another chance and goes again off the same mark.

Amelias Joy

Amelias Joy has not won yet but made a big improvement here last month when dropping down to C6 and was a respectable fourth after a duff start and a wide draw. With a drop of 1 lb and the top draw, I would expect more today EW.
