He has been building up some solid form of late, though, with 12th-place finishes in the British & European Masters and a 7th place in the Irish Open, and 18th in the BMW PGA Championship. He is one of the likelier contenders.

He had endured a miserable year and slumped to 686 in the world rankings before a surprise runner-up spot in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship last week. It is not certain that he will back up that effort, given it was a similar story when he was 4th in that event last year. However, he is a previous winner of this tournament (2019) and not without hope of making the frame.

Fired a final round 65 to pip Rory McIlroy to the Irish Open title and has solid form here. He was runner-up in 2022 and then followed that with a 4th place last year. Should go close once again.

He has slowly improved of late, with 12th place finishes in the Irish Open and Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. He was runner-up in this event in 2011 and 3rd in 2017, so he will be confident of a bold showing.
