Overview

I found this intriguing game at the slots sites listed above, where driving past squished animals on the road is something I've sadly done countless times. Nolimit City's Roadkill turns the table, featuring a gang of animals fighting back. This slot game offers a unique blend of humour and action, with its 5 reels, 3 rows, and 99 pay lines packed with features like Jumping Wild Symbols. Playing, I'm especially drawn to how each animal character brings something special to the table, enhancing my gameplay experience with their unique abilities.

100 Spins Test

This 100 Spin test was updated by Steve Madgwick on 22/09/2023

100 spins is not a Real Test

We give every slot a 100 spin test to see just what it can do, or not as the case can often be - 100 spins is no reflection of the likelihood of any other 100-spin session, as RTP's are set over many millions and probably billions of spins. So this 100 spin test is just for entertainment and insight purposes

Game Data

Nolimit City tells us that ‘Every year - millions of animals around the world are brutally roadkill’d. It’s about damn time they took a stand - and took things into their own paws. Papa Bear, Fred the Rabbit and Deer Joe are here, and they’re not taking any sh!t from anyone.’ And who can blame them?

As well as the Jumping Wild Symbols already mentioned, there’s a great Free Spins round to enjoy called Team Assemble. Here hearts are the aim of the game - to be precise, keeping your 3 hearts. During this round, the activity on the reels will dictate whether you lose or gain a heart.

During this in-depth Roadkill slot review, you’ll get info about every part of this brand-new release so let’s crack on.

Graphics, Music, and Sound Effects

As you'd expect from a Nolimit City slot game, the graphics are outstanding. They are bold and brightly coloured and help to create the strong story element which is a hallmark of Nolimit City games.

Music puts in an appearance during the bonus rounds where you’ll hear rock music with lots of guitar riffs which cranks up to heavier metal music during the Junkyard Assult round.

For the sound effects, there are plenty of road-related sounds including the thrum of traffic, the beeping of horns and humans shouting.

Key Features

Now that I've explained the summary, intro, graphics, music, and sound effects, next on the list are the key game features.

At OLBG we create slot games reviews that include up-to-date info about all of the essential features such as the theme, paylines, bet range, and bonuses. I’ll finish the review by talking about the play experience & first impressions and expert verdict.

Theme – Roadkill

Billy and Hilly are the human faces of the game, they are the bad guys and are, let’s just say, not the most handsome men to ever walk the planet. The base game is pretty tame showing a wooded area next to a busy road. You can hear traffic noise and the humming of cicadas so they are somewhere warm and sunny. The action ramps up when you enter the bonus rounds which take place at night and have trucks whizzing around all over the screen. The only light comes from the headlights of these terrible driver’s vehicles.

The reel creatives are vibrant and striking and have all sorts of weird and wonderful characters. In order from the highest value first are Billy, Hilly, El Zorro the fox, the squirrel, and G Coonie the raccoon. Next up is a barrel full of moonshine, a target with a bear face on it, an animal trap, acorns and a binbag full of rubbish.

Reels

You can play the classic setup of 5 reels by 3 rows when spinning the Roadkill slot game.

Paylines

Landing winning combos is possible on 99 paylines, these are non-adjustable paylines.

RTP

Return to Player or RTP as you’ve probably seen it written on slot sites is a projected percentage of what amount of players’ stakes will be returned to them in the long run. It’s usually somewhere between 94% and 96%. The Roadkill game is ever-so-slightly at the higher range of this scale at 96.04%.

Like all other providers, Nolimit City uses this as a default value. Therefore, you’ll find different RTPs at various operator sites. We’ve identified a few different percentages in some of the top UK online casinos and added these sites to our table below.

When searching for a site to play at there are a few considerations to think about in addition to RTP. You should also look at payment options, the game library, customer support and welcome bonuses and deals

Stake Range

There’s a wide stake range for the Roadkill game which starts at £0.20 and goes right up to £200.

Max Win

Nolimit City max win amounts are always given a fun title and Roadkill’s name is Kings of the Road. Here you’ll receive 11,091 x your stake as the max win.

Wild Shape

For the Roadkill slot game the Wild is a Jumping Wild Symbol which is characterised by the 3 animal protagonists of the game. These jumping Wilds can move into random positions during the bonus rounds.

Firstly, there’s the Papa Bear Jumping Wild which acts as a multiplier. He tries to move 1 step every 2nd spin in any direction. He can block a car once by damaging it for two hit points.

Up next is Fred The Rabbit who acts as a trapper. He can move anywhere on every spin in the battle area. He can block a car multiple times by damaging it for one hit point from left and right

Thirdly there’s Deer Joe, he functions as a Split Wild and triggers only if he blocks a car. He tries to move 1 step on every spin and in any direction. He can only block a car once by damaging it for one hit point from left and right.

Free Spins

Team Assemble is the name for the Free Spins round. It’s triggered by collecting 3 Scatters either during the base game or Call To Arms. When triggered, it applies 3 hearts or restores any normal hearts that have been lost. The red car (which belongs to Billy) then gets enabled and comes in together with Hilly’s green car during every 5th spin. It can crossover to the bonus feature Junkyard Assault if all 3 of the Jumping Wilds have been upgraded. This bonus round finishes when there are no more hearts left.

Jackpot

Like most modern-day slot games there is no jackpot award within the Roadkill game. If jackpots are your cup of tea you should visit our page with the best jackpot slot games.

Play Experience & First Impressions

There are so many features to this game which means a whole bunch of layers to unpeel. The paytable will be your best friend during play. The Jumping Wilds were fun but it took a while to understand what each one does. Here’s a rundown of all the features:

Call to Arms was all about the hearts! It’s triggered by landing 2 Scatter Symbols which then gives you 2 normal hearts. If the 3rd Scatter Symbol happens to land during this mode, it triggers Team Assemble and restores any normal hearts which have been lost. Once the hearts are gone Call to Arms finishes. This feature was quite straightforward and visually it worked well.

Collectors was another big feature which is triggered when a Jumping Wild animal is playing. This is the part of the game when you see the hearts at the top of the bonus rounds. Each Collector has a visual connection to its corresponding Jumping Wild by colour and type. Whenever a car gets stopped by the Jumping Wild the corresponding Collector value increases by 1. If the Collector reaches its cap count by 5, it triggers the upgrade feature. It does this by enhancing its Jumping Wild depending on the type. I found this feature pretty complicated to follow and again, had to keep referring back to the pay table for instructions.

The humans of the show Hilly and Billy, form part of a feature called Hilly and Billy Cars. This is triggered whenever animals are in play and triggers only between spins. There are two types of cars: Green - Hilly’s car which always comes in 1st on every round. It requires to be hit once to be stopped. Billy’s car is the red car which only comes in on every 5th round during Team Assemble or on every round during Junkyard Assault. Billy’s car requires to be hit twice to be stopped. Whenever any car comes into play, it travels across the reel area starting from the right side and on a random row. If a Jumping Wild manages to block the car, one hit point is removed from it. If its hit-point reaches zero, the car gets stopped. If the car manages to cross the area from the right without getting stopped, the car will pick again a random row and transit starting from the left side. The feature stops whenever there are no more hearts in play. Visually it looks great but it took a while to fully understand what each car does and this is almost distracting.

The Roadblock Feature gets triggered by collecting a total of 20 hits which get enabled for the next spin. The feature starts by restoring any normal hearts and transforms all the Jumping Wilds to cover a whole row each in the Battle Area. When applied, Hilly and Billy cars come into play and they hit one row each randomly and trigger a feature based on the row hit. If the top row gets hit - it adds one Wild randomly on reel 5. The middle row - splits all the rows on reel 5 and thirdly, the bottom row - multiplies the 3x3 Wild by 2. Once the payout is complete, the 3x3 Wild splits back into the Jumping Wilds and the Total Collector starts from 0.

Junkyard Assault is the big bonus game and only triggers if all three Jumping Wilds have been upgraded. When triggered, it applies 3 hearts or restores any normal hearts that have been lost. The red car now comes into play on every spin, the same as the green car. The Jumping Wilds individual Collectors get replaced with one Total Collector starting from 0 which now triggers the Roadblock every time it reaches its cap. The game mode ends as soon as there are no more hearts left.

Expert Verdict

Wow, I took an intake of breath when I read the game information. It’s a ton of info to take in and to write up. I needed time to get my head around all the details when reviewing the game which slightly undermined the gameplay. I’ve had a similar experience for the last couple of Nolimit City games which is slightly deterring. I'm a huge fan but I’m finding them increasingly complicated. The game is Nolimit City’s second road-related game as they released Road Rage in 2022.

Creatively and storytelling-wise it's terrific like all Nolimt City games are, the bar is still extremely high. The theme, imagery and music tie together seamlessly to create an immersive experience that was fun to play. This title wasn't as risque as some of my favs but it made me chuckle in places nonetheless.  It certainly gets a huge tick in the innovation box. It’s a different slant on the tried and tested animal-themed games that fill the market. Having the 3 amigos as the goodies of the game and Billy and Hilly as the baddies worked well. The bonus rounds are pumped full of action from the second they start. You hear booming music, screeching vehicles, loud beeps and people shouting which grabs your attention.

The max win was one of the lowest I’ve seen from Nolimity City in a while which was a surprise as its volatility is still extremely high so I'd expect to see a larger amount.

To sum up, it’s a fun playing experience with a great story and some strong features although I think there are too many as it takes away from the experience when you're trying to understand them. You should definitely give it a go as there’s a lot to enjoy, however, it isn't one of my favourites from this studio but I think many players will have a blast.
