Benedict Cumberbatch is the betting favourite to star as Lord Voldemort in the new HBO Harry Potter series

Lord Voldemort is Harry Potter's arch nemesis and it's Benedict Cumberbatch who remains the 3/1 favourite to star in the role with a 25% chance that he does so according to the latest market.
Bill Nighy has previously been favourite in the betting market but his odds have drifted out to 5/1 to appear as the famous character in the upcoming HBO show that will be based around the books.

Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav has said that he expects the series to air in 2026 which means that we should start to see cast members announced.
J.K. Rowling had been a stumbling block when it came to making the show with the author and creator of Harry Potter having creative control over her work.
HBO's CEO Bloys said, "Rowling will be involved. She’s an executive producer on the show. Her insights are going to be helpful on that.”
