  • Ex-Chelsea player Jody Morris is 3/1 at the Head of the Market with Betting Sites
  • Chelsea legend John Terry also high on the betting market and bookies give him a 9% chance of taking over.
  • Full-back Dean Lewington is current Interim Manager and bookmakers think he could be offered the job.

Swans Job Gone - Maybe now the Dons for Morris

Jody Morris has become the surprising favourite for the vacant MK Dons job after Russell Martin left for Swansea last week.

Morris himself was short odds for the Swans job over the last fortnight, with talks taking place between him and Swansea for the vacant job according to reports on Sky Sports.

It goes without saying that we are extremely disappointed by the timing of this departure.
MK Dons statement

With the new season fast approaching, the Dons will be furious that they’re without a manager at this point of pre-season, with their own statement regarding Martin’s departure reading "it goes without saying that we are extremely disappointed by the timing of this departure.”

It’s now time to see if MK Dons will rush through with signing a new manager or take their time with what is an important appointment next.

MK Dons History with New Managers

MK Dons chairman Pete Winkelman is no stranger to taking a chance on new managers, with European Cup winning manager Roberto Di Matteo starting his career with the Dons.

They’ve also had managers at the early point in their careers like Paul Ince, Karl Robinson and even Russell Martin himself who was the last manager in the role.

Manager Betting Odds Probability
Jody Morris 3/1 25%
Dean Lewington 6/1 15%
Michael Duff 8/1 11%
John Terry 8/1 11%
Alex Revell 10/1 9%

The Role Could Come too Quickly for John Terry

John Terry is likely to turn up in many next manager betting odds lists after quitting the coaching staff at Aston Villa stating he couldn't commit to the entire season.

The former Chelsea and England defender claimed he wanted time out with his family and then may consider a managerial job later down the line.

The Dons role may be something too soon on that basis and he could be looking for a job in a couple of months as the inevitable early managerial departures come in throughout October and November.

Dean Lewington Could Step Up but it's Unlikely

Dean Lewington, who is currently 6/1 second favourite in the betting market and is now the current interim manager at the club, is a Dons legend.

Starting at Wimbledon and staying with MK Dons when the takeover and transformation of the club was complete, the full-back has played over 700 times across both clubs and this step up to interim manager is just the next step in his story there.

He’s admittedly said he’d rather stay as a player than be the full time manager at the club, but an early run of good form at the start of the season could change his mind and make the club want to install him as their first team manager permanently.
