Avatar 2 is the only competition at 15/8 to Top Gun: Maverick according to the betting odds

The latest bookie odds for the Highest Grossing Film of 2022 show that it's just a two horse race between Top Gun: Maverick and Avatar 2 for the main spot at the top for the year.

The sequel to the highest grossing film of all-time Avatar is expected to have a massive performance at the Box Office during it's festive release period.

Paddy Power still make Top Gun: Maverick the favourite to top the Grossing charts but Avatar 2's release on December 16th will show us in the first week if there's a chance of a change happening.

Highest Grossing Film Worldwide 2022 Odds Probability
Top Gun: Maverick 1/2 66.7%
Avatar 2 15/8 34.8%
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever 14/1 6.7%
Strange World 100/1 1.0%
Babylon 100/1 1.0%

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released earlier this month and has made over $500m at the Box Office worldwide so far.

There's just a 6.7% chance that the Marvel movie can go on and surpass Top Gun: Maverick before the end of the year.

Avatar 2 looks to be the only film left to be released this year with any chance of knocking Top Gun: Maverick off the top spot of the highest grossing films of 2022. Avatar's mid December release date may not give it enough time at the Cinema's to beat Top Gun.

Top Gun: Maverick remains the bookmakers favourite at 1/2

Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick remains the 1/2 outright favourite to be the highest grossing film this year.

So far at the Box Office the movie has made just under $1.5 billion this year and it'll take something special to surpass that.

Top Gun: Maverick is by far the biggest film of Tom Cruise's career with Mission Impossible: Fallout second at just under $800m made.

This is almost $700m less than what the second Top Gun movie has made which shows just how impressive his latest movie has been.
