majestic moon
the jolly looks to have a good chance but the odds are a tad short so a chance is taken on julia fielden's runner which has won at the course and over the trip. it was in the winners circle as recently as january. and found only one too good for it on its subsequent outing on the all weather. put in its best effort since when finishing runner up at yarmouth on fast ground last time out and hopefully can improve for that

POETIC FORCE

Poetic Force is in good form at the moment having only been out of the frame once since coming back off a 107 day break and that was his first race. Loves the going having raced on it the last three races and in the frame each time and distance no worry either as has raced over further and placed so should have some spare in the tank at the end. Has a very good record on the AW having been placed in nine of his eleven races. Poppy Bridgewater in good form with two wins and a place from five rides this last two weeks.

Good luck all :hope:

THE WARRIOR

Hasn’t really troubled the judge a lot but last two runs were encouraging enough but just lacks that injection of pace. Was caught napping at Newbury last time and never could get involved and was keeping on well at goodwood the time before over 7f so worth another crack at the mile with ideal conditions

York 3:40

Sir Chauvelin….from Jim Goldie yard he sends two horses down for this race from Central Scotland the other being Euchen Glen, Jim likes these big handicaps usually get good value for a place Sir Chauvelin the 6yo has been a winner of five races from 1m 4f to 1m 5f on ground varying from good to firm to soft and on the all-weather also eleven placed , you can also add three hurdle wins two placed from eight hurdle ,

He's not won at this distance although a couple placed but he arrives in fine form and can stay on if he's wound up a bit earlier as he's plenty of stamina with Barry McHugh in saddle

York 3.40

Another Touch

Has won five time in career on the flat. Has not had too many runs over distance as best performances have come over 1 mile. Handles the conditions. Has had some decent performances here with a 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed finish.

Fayez

trained by David O'Meara, this selection has some solid form over mixed distances, over 8-10.5 furlongs ,finished in the top four places in last 5 races, with best form to date a 2nd place finish, over the distance of 9 furlongs, runs around the distance of 10 furlongs for todays contest, good/firm ground will suit, Shane Gray is in the saddle has ew appeal

3.40 YORK

APPEARED

Trainer Roger Varian .... ..... ..... ..... ...... ...... ....>m Jockey Andrea Atzeni

A Roger Varien trained 6 year old who has had 10 races on the flat winning twice and has finished in the frame twice. He has not won since May last year in a class 3 handicap at Ascot over 1m 4f on good to firm going when ridden by today's jockey Andrea Atzeni. He has only had the 1 race this year in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes again at Ascot over 1m 4f on good to firm going again under today's jockey where he finished 4th of 17 runners beaten 4 lengths by one of today's rivals Dash Of Spice. That run was after a 301 day break , and meets that rival on better terms and should strip fitter, he in a class 2 handicap over 1m 2 1/2f on good to firm going , this gelding lead at this distance after such a long break last time out under today's jockey on similar going , has a good chance in this race today.

YORK 3.40 BROROCCO

This A M Balding trained gelding is the winner of four races over one mile one furlong to one mile two furlongs on good to firm and good ground and showed that he retains his form in his latest start over one mile two furlongs on good to firm ground at Newmarket when only beaten 3 1/2 lengths behind the in form W Jarvis trained Chief Ironside 15 days ago so with D Probert doing the steering he could surprise at a decent price

3.40Y - Tandem
Rattled off a hat trick in Ireland last year with the last of those wins coming over 1m 2f on good to firm.
Then encountered soft and heavy ground which may not have suited and one of them was in a Listed
event. Last run was over 1m 4f where he didn't get a clear run 2 1/2f out and then stayed on one paced.
Drop to 1m 2f 56yds today should suit on good to firm with 3lb claimer keeping the ride after that last run.

THUNDERING BLUE

He is a C & D winner, winning here on his last visit, on similar ground. Over 50% of his turf races have ended in the frame with over 30% wins. He does carry more weight than for his last victory, but should carry it OK. The 5 stall appears to be in the better half of the draw. Today's jockey knows how to win and has some good recent runs behind him. I think we can disregard his last run, at Ascot, this was over a longer distance, so the drop back to today's distance looks favourable.
