Is Each Way betting worth it or are you risking twice as much cash every time you place a bet? Are win only or place only better alternatives?

Always consider EW betting as 2 bets , eg £10 ew on a 6/1 selection at 1/4 odds is £10 WIN @ 6/1 and another £10 Bet @ 6/4 to come in first 2,3 or 4 etc depending on terms .

Over a year you will have several more placed bets than win ones , each one showing a profit of £5 and not a loss of £20. Ask your self why do bookies never advertise EW bets ?? be it singles or Lucky 15\'s .. simple , they are no where near as profitable as win bets.

This is from a bookie of 32 years experience ..PS a £1 ew Lucky 15 with NO!! winners but 4 placed selections @ 6/1 1/4 odds returns= £149.06p !! and if one them won you would get an extra £19 on top .

If you backed Tottenham to win then the away team scored a goal you could then lay Tottenham to lose when the lay priced dropped then you should be ok. I think that how it works. and if your lucky make a wee profit.

Excuse the potential stupid question, but what does "lay" mean?

 EW betting is wroth it, more than 16/1.
I only back on the big races, and look for value.
and only do singles.

I do win bets to, especially in small feilds.

I'm confused about E/W doubles. e.g. 20EW @4/1 into 4/1. If both win is return 580 or 490 ?
What I'm trying to say is if first leg wins is second bet 70EW or 100 WIN and 40 PLACE as exam implies ?

The answer of the question for 16/1 EW bet is not correct. 1/4 EW gives odds of 4/1. We have 2x10 bets. One of them loses. and the total return of 4/1 EW bet is 50. 50-10 which we lost = 40. You have pointed an answer 50 which is incorrect.
