Beneagles

Looks like the potential improved in the field win only 5 career runs over hurdles, placing twice and winning once. Run last time out at Ascot was ok but left too much to do at the end so needs to be ridden more prominently this time out. Distance and conditions all look fine and the mark looks to have mileage on it.

Captain Buck's

The trainer/jockey combination of Paul Nicholls and Sam Twiston-Davies has been finding winners lately (their recent strike rates are 24% and 25% respecively). The pick hasn't raced for 184 days but goes well fresh. He has won a avariety of going from Good through to Heavy. The trip won't be a problem as he has won over 2m 7f. I think he can run well off a mark of 124.

Captain Buck's......from Paul Nicholls yard the 5yo has won two hurdle races and a NH flat race from 2m to 2m 7f on ground varying from good to heavy , He's one who may have more progression and looks on a fair mark of 124 even though all runs been in small fields,

His last run was 184 days ago at Exeter 2m 7f hcp hurdle good he tracked leaders and was challenging when hitting 3 out soon ridden and stayed on same pace to take 2nd place with Sam Twiston-Davies who's been on last five runs , The yard had time during the summer to work on stamina and fitness so I expect no mistakes as he'll been schooled more and Sam Twiston-Davies keeping the ride

newbury 1.10

captain buck's

Horses who already have a run under their belt will probably have the edge fitness wise as this is over 3m. Paul Nicholls 5yr old Captain Buck's seems to be progressing nicely, has won 2 hurdle races, a Class 4 Novice handicap at Kempton over 2m 5f and another at Exeter when raised in distance to 2m 7f. His last run was in a Class 3 Handicap Hurdle at Exeter again over 2m 7f where he came 2nd, beaten over 4L, but ran well til 3 out where he made a mistake. Had a rest since May and i'm sure he will have been schooled further over the break. Stable very much in form, usual jockey Sam Twiston-Davies on board so taken to go one better.

CLOSING CEREMONY

trained by Emma Lavelle with Nick Scholfield in the saddle, this selection has been absent, from the race coarse since 25 Jan 16 , this selections is an 8 yo, has won a group 2 over the distance of 23 furlongs on soft ground, races over 24 furlongs in todays contest, and is racing below, last winning mark, over hurdles, so i am hopeful, for soft ground, and a return to yesterday form. if this selection returns to this form , will go close, in todays race, has ew appeal.

JUST MILLY

This mare caught my eye when winning a race at Doncaster in December of last year with Sean Bowen on board.
Today, Sean brother James is on board who is a young jockey who looks to be going places.
She has finished second the last twice this season and has a progressive view about her and with this race, she gets plenty of weight from the rest of the field bar two, Captain Buck’s and Court Frontier with the first being on the same weight and gives the other a pound but if taking James claim into account she is bottom weight and with this she could be taking a hand in at the finish.
She is by Milan, so distance should be no issue, as she has raced over this distance or near too on several occasions without winning but today could be her day.
She has form that is indicating progress can be seen and like mares and fillies if they are running, they are worth following, a big race could be on the cards today.

1.10N - Whataknight
Distance winner who ran at Cheltenham last time out only weakening coming up the finishing hill under jockey N.Fehily who
has rode him on his last four runs. Trainer has replaced him today with useful 5lb claimer Mr M Legg who rode him five runs ago
finishing a decent 2nd of 8 over 3 miles beaten just over a length. Terry The Fish could go well under his 3lb claimer and bottom
of the handicap Court Frontier could upset at big odds receiving weight all round.

1.10 Newbury

Terry The Fish

In a run of excellent form this season. All three career wins over hurdles have come this summer. All three wins have been over distance in good ground conditions. Jockey claiming 3lbs in weights a plus. Needs to be considered.
