Whatever everyone backed in the race, it is a fantastic result that every one of the horses goes home safe tonight (as well as the jockeys, but they don't seem to matter as much). 18 horses finished the race, so there's no indication whatsoever that the test is any less difficult.

There would be evidence that the test is different though possibly. Double Seven was very inexperienced for a horse to run well in the National, so the jumping test is possibly not as tough as it once was.

Any thoughts on that?

I know for a fact racehorses are looked after to the very last detail in health and beauty.
However if you are really concerned about the treatment of horses, the you can start by not allowing people who do not have the correct and proper means to keep a horse, look around, there are a lot all over the place, even in towns, housing estates etc, that is plain and simply wrong. if you could stop that it would be a job well done..... most sports and jobs too have occupational hazards attached to them unfortunately. such is the way of the human being creature.....
