Eurovision Song Contest 2006

Postby RYU001 » Sat May 20, 2006 10:59 am

Hi All, I'm looking for some advice on laying Greece in tonights final, basically to cover my stakes. I have already bet the following on a Greek victory :

20 win @7/2
15 win @4/1

and

25e/w @5/1

Total outlay = 85
Win potential =371.25
Place potential =56.25

Any Advice would be greatly appreciated as I've not made a lay bet before!

Thank guys :hope:

Well if u r confident Greece are not gonna win u can lay them. They are currently odds of 6.8, so u will be down if u lay the lot.

Presumably u know to lay off and make a profit the price needs to have dropped b4 u lay off? If u do know this u will have to wait til in-running to see if they are popular and have performed well for the price to drop.

cheers for replying Dammo, The odds for Greece to win are quite varied ranging from 11/4 to 11/2, so as long as I lay lower than the odds i've taken that will be ok, right?

The odds may be varied but u can only lay on betting exchanges, whose prices will nearly always be higher than the other bookies. If u find any betting exchanges where the price of a country is lower then another bookie, u should back with the other bookie and lay with the exchange (factoring in any commission charges).

I would be surprised if u can lay Greece off for lower than uve backed them at until its turned inplay. Watch for the running order and hopefully a strong performance may crash the price.

Only 3 countries have ever retained the title in 50 years. Shouldnt have too many enemies tho, unless anyone had dodgy kebabs last nite. I was in Crete last year when they won the title. The locals were all fairly pleased, we got some free drinks out of it.

I know the horse racing elite on here will think im mad but this is one of my favourite betting events. Official site http://www.eurovision.tv/english/index.htm

I messed up last year when i layed Greece but I did have profit the previous two years.

Greece - have the fortunate task of following the UK entry but then the Heavy Metal Fins are next (Fins are quite an act - they get my vote, but will lose because they arent new Europe! Wogan will love 'em)

Betfair have an in-play market for you to use and they may go lower in-play.

dammo - the fins satanic head banging entry is number 1 for fun.

123 overall - wouldn't think of picking without seeing the entries as the on the night performance is so important.

UK no chance of course (old europe!) even with the shool girls :-)
