Staking systems

Postby Viking64 » Wed Nov 08, 2017 1:37 pm

Trying to find a sensible way of winning consistently, rather than bigly (spot that neologism!)

This is really a question about staking, rather than systems. If one is careful and has a bank divided into points for the purpose of back bets, is it better to level stake, increasing only if the bank increases, or is it better to use a Martingale system, providing one is betting small and doesn't run out of bank?

I''m not sure I can figure the maths as to which might be more sensible other than to see that Martingale aims to cover a previous loss.

Guidance from the mathematically gifted, would be welcome.

Many thanks.

Hi Viking,

Much will depend on the sports on which you bet, markets on which you bet, methods used to make selections and the odds for the bets you place, size of initial betting bank, plus your strike rate, longest losing runs and temperament (how you cope with losing runs, etc).

I will be pleased to provide some assistance/guidance, but obviously you will need to share the above information either on this thread, or via a pm to me.

All the best.
