Christmas Number 1 2012

Postby uls2000 » Tue Dec 11, 2012 11:24 am

He ain't heavy he's my brother by The Justice Collective (charity single to support a full inquest for the Hillsborough victims) has long been favourite for the Christmas No 1 single, as short as 1/8 I think I saw last week, but it looks like X Factor winner James Arthur is selling a lot more than expected.

Official Charts Company have confirmed James Arthur's first day of download sales were a massive 187,000- bigger than any other winner's first day digital sales and nearly 3 times Little Mix's first day sales from last year. CD sales will be added from Wednesday, and whilst this week's sales will be a lot higher than next week's (which is the week that counts for the Xmas chart and The Justice Collective's first week on sale) I can see this race for Christmas no 1 being delicately 50:50 at this stage with James Arthur still widely available at 4-1/5-1.

I can't see odds being offered on Christmas no 1 album anywhere, shame as there's going to be an interesting race there between Olly Murs/ Rod Stewart/ Michael Buble.
