One runner up spot last week with Tyrrell Hatton (16/1) finishing a shot off the winner for denden in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

As we head into Week 33 of the 2018 'Player of the Week' thread, the running total stands at 21 winning golf tips and 60 Each Way payouts to date!

This week we have 8 tournaments featuring the British Masters on the European Tour and the PGA Tour visits Asia with the CIMB Classic in Malaysia.

If you follow the golf, please feel free to have a go if you have not done so as yet and select your player to follow in one of this week's tournaments and please ask any questions below on this thread if unsure as regards the competition set up, 32 members have played so far this year.

The scoring format is detailed below, the requirement is ONE golf tip selection per week which can be from any of the Golf tournaments which we will list each new week with the cut off times for entries.

A key factor in the feedback from OLBG golf fans reading the ‘Player of the Week’ thread is the analysis which accompanies member’s
golf tips so we require at least 50 WORDS explaining why you think your golf selection is a good bet, this is just a few lines and extremely useful for readers looking to follow your selected golf pick.

CRITERIA

- Maximum 1 selection per week, with at least 50 words explaining your pick.
- The same golfer CAN be selected even if he/she has already been picked by another member.
- If your player withdraws BEFORE the tournament starts you can select a new pick as long as it is received before the cut off for entries.
- Deadline for entries each week will be the first tee off time of the tournament your player is competing.

WEEKLY SCORING

- Tournament Winner = 30 points
- Second = 15 points
- Third = 10 points
- Fourth = 7 points
- Fifth = 5 points

Additional scoring for player odds -

- Up to and including 33/1 = 10 points for a win and 5 points for a place.
- 34/1 to 99/1 = 20 points for a win and 10 points for a place.
- 100/1 and bigger = 30 points for a win and 15 points for a place.

ADDITIONAL POINTS

- *54 hole leader = 4 points
- First Round Leader = 3 points
- Made The Cut = 2 points

*Includes 36 hole leader for three round events like on the Champions Tour.

All points will be doubled for the 4 majors (US Masters, The US Open, The British Open and the USPGA Championship).

We will confirm the prize amount available in due course for the winner of the ‘Player of the Week’ thread which will be the member with the highest points total at the end of the year/final tournament week.

This Week we have –

- CIMB CLASSIC(PGA Tour) Entry deadline 1 am Thursday

PLAYER: Andrew Johnston 70/1 skybet

TOURNAMENT: British Masters

REASON FOR SUPPORT: "beef" Johnston is still progressing as a player on the tour. After a breakout season last year he has been careful not to overdo it, often only playing 1 or 2 tournaments a month. Here at one of his local tracks he could be one to watch. In the last 3 us Open qualifiers he has finishes 1st, 9th and 4th singe certainly knows his way around.

He also features prominently enough in driving accuracy, GIR and scrambling stats to show that, despite some missed cuts, he is still having a reasonable season. T34 last time out he could be finishing the year as well as he started, when he picked up a 2nd, 9th and 12th in 6 tournaments from January to March.

Player : Francesco Molinari 10-1 Coral

Event : British Masters

Reason for Support : I will play it simple this week and go for a man in form coming back to a hero's welcome 5 out of 5 ask Fleetwood. He will want to put on a good show here and he has been more relaxed this year and it has shown in his game. Francesco has already won twice on British soil winning the BMW PGA Championship at the end of May and also The Open in mid-July, I do expect him to compete strongly with that lovely swing of his and he can handle the pressure. gl all

PLAYER: Chris Wood

TOURNAMENT: British Masters

REASON FOR SUPPORT:

33/1 across the boards for the 30 year old Bristol native. Wood has been trending in the right direction since The Open Championship where he finished tied 28th. 2nd in the KLM Open in Holland and 12th in the Portugal Masters down in Vilamoura, the Englishman was 2nd at the Open de France earlier this year and with Walton Heath a course that will surely suit his game this week, I fancy Chris Wood to have a big week in Surrey.

Player : Danny Lee (45/1)

Event : CIMB Classic

Reason for Support :

Danny finished in a tie for 7th at the CIMB Classic here last year and returns in decent form to try and improve on that performance. A strong finish at the Safeway Open last weekend saw him finish in a share of 10th which followed fair performances in two of the FedEx play off events. He's starting to find his form again which had deserted him for most of the past year or so, but is a past winner on the PGA tour and also has a T13 finish here in Kuala Lumpur in his first appearance back in 2015.

PLAYER: Matt Wallace (35/1)

TOURNAMENT: British Masters

REASON FOR SUPPORT: Despite three wins on the European Tour this season (the Indian Open, the BMW International and the Made In Denmark tournaments), Matt Wallace was passed over for Ryder Cup selection as a wild card. He'll be keen to prove that he could have been a contender in front of a home crowd. Walton Heath isn't unknown to him---for the last two seasons running, he has got into the lucrative US Open through the international qualifying sectional held here. It's a 36 hole event played in 1 day over the Old and New courses with the top 14 scoring players going through. This year Matt finished in seventh place scoring -7 under par

Player : Sung Hyun Park

Event : LPGA KEB HANA BANK CHAMPIONSHIP (LPGA Tour)

Reason for Support :

Sung Hyun Park 20/1 was part of the winning South Korean team in last week's International Crown which took place in her native country of South Korea and she is presently 3rd on the LPGA Money List. Her rookie year on the LPGA tour was 2017 and she has won two Majors including the Women's PGA Championship this year so she is capable of playing very good golf. This event also takes place in South Korea where she feels comfortable playing and she performed well last week and could do well again here on a course which seems to suit her as she came jt 2nd here in 2015, jt 13th in 2016 and was 2nd in 2017 so she has some decent course form.

Rafa Cabrera Bello (33/1)
CIMB Classic
Justin Thomas looks the standard out in this event but looks way too short to play so a chance is taken at bigger odds on the spaniard who has hit a bit of form recently after a bit of a torrid time on the European tour missing 3 cuts in a row but Rafa has upped his game in majors and on the PGA tour having much better luck and going near on occasion this doesn't look the strongest of fields 4th in the open 10th in the PGA championship 11th in the wyndham championship and 7th in the dell technologies most recently

Player : Andrew Putnam 110/1

Tournament : cimb classic

Reason:
He played ok in the FedEx before being knocked out before the top 30. This lineup looks thread bare. Half the size of a normal tournament and only justin Thomas on show. Nonew of the the other top players are here. Putnam won a tournament a couple months back. Hes matured and at 110/1 or alot bigger one the exchanges is well worth a small bet.. I've only done win only as top 5 only get payed where as the British masters can pay top 7. I've tipped Ancer or hossler for first round.

Kirk Triplett 33/1 Unibet
SAS Championship
Kirk has already won on the Tour this year and he is finishing the season in good form. He was tied for third place at The Senior Open in July and recorded two runner up spots and a sixth place last month. Triplett won the SAS four years ago and also has a third place finish here on his resume
