Rocking Ends looks the one to beat based on both his recent return and his strong course-and-distance form. He returned from an 83-day break following a spell in Bahrain and shaped much better than the bare result suggests when fourth in a Class 3 handicap over 5f at Yarmouth Racecourse. Beaten 3¼ lengths in a 0-90 contest on good-to-soft ground, he was held up and made his move late, leaving the impression he would have finished closer with a stronger pace or earlier challenge. His Bahrain form also reads well. One notable effort saw him finish fourth over 5f on good-to-firm ground behind Another Baar, now rated 95, while the third-placed Partisan Hero has since won a Class 2 handicap at York and is now rated 96. Perhaps most importantly, he has proven course-and-distance form. Last season he won a Class 3 handicap over this same 5f at Yarmouth off a mark of 90, scoring by 1 length on good-to-firm ground. The handicapper has eased him 2 lb for his reappearance effort, and he now drops in class with his preferred ground conditions likely. Back at a track where he has already won.
