Prior to that, she ran over 1m 2½f at Wolverhampton Racecourse on the all-weather, finishing 5th but staying on without being overly pushed, again suggesting she has more to offer. Although still a maiden, her last two runs indicate clear improvement and suggest this step up to 1m 1f should suit. The pedigree is also encouraging ??' with Frankel as sire and Shamardal on the dam’s side, there is plenty of stamina and class influence, and good to firm ground should be fine. The booking of Billy Loughnane is another positive, and with her progressive profile, Merapi looks well placed to go close if continuing on an upward curve.
