6:30 Wolverhampton Tips

A 4-year-old French horse. He has finished in the first three 3 times from 4 starts on all-weather surfaces. He was last seen in November, finishing a very close 2nd of 12 over course and distance. Jason Watson rode, and he partners again today.

Hasn't won for a while but has been running okay lately as his mark continues to slip, and he posted a solid effort when fourth at Southwell a fortnight ago. Down another lb and needs a bit more, but should be striking soon.

Won here last time out from a slightly higher draw and also won back in October at Southwell after returning from a break. Same jockey on board, just two pounds higher.

If he'd enjoyed better luck in running, he might have won last week and should be bang there if running to the same level today.

Mr Baloo has not won since here in March off an 87 in C4 and has spent most runs since in C3 and C2, a bit down the pack, but has just dropped back to that last winning mark and gets back in C4 as well. So I would expect more today.

Raced 3 times at Wolvs, narrowly missing out on a mark of 87. It may be the case that it needs that slight extra distance, as its other best form tends to be 1m on standard/slow. The horse does not win often, so a place may be more likely. But if settling just off the pace in what looks to be a weak race, it may do OK.

The 5-year-old has struggled with slow starts in his last two races over 6f. However, at odds of 25/1, he might be worth considering for an each-way bet, with the jockey's 3 lb claim and a potential return to form as he steps back up in distance.

Cephalus won a seller in October and has now changed yards. Previously, he won at Southwell in Feb off a 78 in Class 4 and is now back on a 78 for this Class 4. My only hesitation is the rider, hence just an each-way.
