Rotation is a 3-year-old gelding trained by Eve Johnson Houghton, with Oliver Carmichael taking the ride under a 7 lb apprentice claim. He races off an official rating of 48, which places him on the lower side of this field and could be a plus if he’s improving. Though winless in his last 14 starts, his recent runs have been broadly respectable??'especially a fourth of 14 over 7f at Lingfield on all-weather about 17 days ago, showing he’s fit and holding form. The drop back in trip to roughly 6f at Wolverhampton should suit, allowing him to conserve in the early leg and fire late??'especially if the pace is hot up front. With his rating looking fair, the apprentice claim reducing his burden, and a jockey who’s likely to help position him well, Rotation looks like a nice e/w play here.

Not been to the winners enclosure for a while, but has been running well in defeat @ this level of late and is now back down to a basement mark of 47. Is a C/D winner, under used apprentice up claiming 3lb and shrewd trainer who does very well on the Aw is in top form, making current 12/1 solid Ew value in the race.

Scott Dixon has landed a few touches at Wolverhampton. Could this be another? The horse is well-bred and related to several winners. This race is no great shakes, so let's go each way 18/1 four places.

Lightly raced 3-year-old. Three fair efforts last year earning himself a 69 rating. Not great this year, racing over trips way too far in his last two starts and now down to a handy 52 mark. He raced over this 6f C/D three starts back, drawn widest of 12, very wide on the turn into the straight but he did travel well at the front end before fading approaching the final furlong, beaten 6L. However, he’s facing much lower-rated rivals tonight and with a good apprentice in the saddle, he’s effectively a huge 17lb better off now and could go well at a big price.
