ARTAGNAN has won two races at 6f. A winner on his latest outing over 6f at Chelmsford City earlier this month. The course, distance, and surface should suit. Seems well treated and could well be able to go in again and win this race.

C&D champion. Achieved a recent victory at Windsor in July and performed respectably, finishing 8th in the Ayr Gold Cup last month. This race may play to his strengths, and he shouldn't be overlooked as he returns to more favourable conditions. At 11/1, an each-way presents excellent value.

JUNGLE DRUMS has won four races from 5f to 6f. A winner on his latest outing over 6f at Chelmsford City earlier this month. The course, distance, and surface should suit. Seems well treated and could well be able to go in again and win this race.

Never Just A Dream (IRE) is a 5-year-old gelding by No Nay Never, trained by Alice Haynes and ridden by Kieran O’Neill. He runs off an official rating of 91 and comes here after a solid effort at Dundalk, where he travelled nicely before just tiring late on in a competitive sprint. He’s a proven all-weather performer with four career wins, and while this will be his first run at Southwell, his style of racing should suit the Tapeta surface. The drop back to 6f looks a good move, as his best form has come when able to travel strongly behind the pace and quicken late. With O’Neill back in the saddle and his recent run likely to have sharpened him up, Never Just A Dream looks a lively each-way player, especially if the race sets up for closers. Im hoping he will run fresh from the recent break.

Prince Of Pillo has not won since last here in April in a C3 at 6f off an 88. He took on weight but has had a few runs at C2 as well and has had a couple of okay down-the-pack runs since the break. He has only just now fallen back to below that last winning mark and could be ready to go again back here off an 83 EW 4P.

Race 4 at Southwell today is a Handicap (Class 3) over 1,223 m Flat Race for 3 y.o. and upwards on the Polytrack. The suggested wager is for the each way on the 3yo filly Rogue Sensation from the Edward Bethell yard, and will be ridden by Oisin Orr. This daughter of Too Darn Hot has been running against far stronger recently. She should do better with the drop in class here. Her only win to date was over this course and distance, which has been her only start on the Polytrack as well. Winning here won't come as a surprise. Big chance.
