The 4th, Gun Carriage (rated 97), also adds strength to the run. Prior to that, he produced a strong effort when 2nd over 1m on good ground at Meydan, beaten just a neck off 85, showing he is effective on a sounder surface similar to today’s conditions. Now running off 89, he looks fairly treated based on that form. The return to turf over a mile on good to firm ground should suit, and with match fitness on his side, he holds solid claims if he can translate that Meydan form back to this setting.

Returns from a six-month break to a course where his front-running style obviously suits, as he won three times here (two over C&D) last season.

Cadarn can be forgiven his reappearance run in the Spring Mile at Doncaster, where he finished well beaten and was never really involved. That effort likely served as a needed run after a break. Looking back at last season, his form at Redcar stands out. He won over this course and distance (1m) in a Class 3 handicap off 81 and followed up again here off 84, showing a clear liking for the track. Now returning to a more suitable level and racing off 87, he doesn’t look harshly treated given that proven course form. The drop in class is a positive, and the expected good to firm ground should suit based on previous wins. With that recent run under his belt and back at a track where he has thrived, he looks well placed to bounce back and has strong claims in this contest.

Intrusively 4-year-old chestnut gelding. Normally slowly away but is dropping down the handicap. Looks interesting in this type of race. Might be a good each-way price.
