Won four times last year and returned with a solid second at Thirsk, but subsequent runs have been underwhelming. He's now well handicapped on his peak form, so worth a bet at this price.

Badri looks the one to side with in this contest and can be forgiven his latest effort at Epsom Downs Racecourse, where he was well beaten in a Class 2 handicap. The soft ground may not have suited, and the run is best viewed in that context. Prior to that, he showed he remains capable of winning when landing a Class 4 handicap at Redcar Racecourse over 6f on good to firm ground. Racing off 87, he stayed on strongly to score by ½l, suggesting he was still in good heart. His previous form at Pontefract Racecourse is another positive. On his only visit to the track, he finished 2nd over this course and distance in a competitive Class 2 handicap off 89, running a fine race in a 0-105 contest. Back at a venue where he has already shown he can perform well, and returning to quicker ground, conditions appear much more suitable. He also drops back into Class 4 company after facing stronger opposition last time, while racing from the same mark of 89. With the Epsom run forgiven, Badri looks to have a very good opportunity to get back to winning ways.

Winner at Catterick last backend who began this campaign well before a pair of below par efforts the last twice. Needs to bounce back but should run well if doing so.
