Lord Capulet scores 97/100 with my Quick Picks algorithm. 97/100 and 6 points clear of the field makes him a solid bet and is my only other bet today. This horse scores very well with the best LTO speed figure and the best jockey in the field on current form. Bullington Bry deserves a mention, as I think the two of these will take on the field from the front and may well make a good forecast.

Finished 1 1/4 lengths 2nd behind Lord Capulet but meets that rival on 1 lb better terms. Also has a 5 lb claimer on board, so that advantage becomes 6 lb and may be the factor to reverse the placings.

He is a proficient, premium horse when he performs at his peak, especially celebrated for his results in winter events on AW. He has a number of wins, including at this C&D, but his last effort at Newcastle was not up to par. Dropping down to Class 6 should provide a boost, and the setup of this race looks favourable, so an each-way bet at 14/1 looks to be a solid investment.

Swiss Ace has proved tricky to win with lately but could be a live contender in this one. Seven pounds lighter in the weights than a near miss in a grade higher as recently in December. A claimer takes further weight off, and with the stable in decent nick, he's a very tricky one to rule out here.

Worth a small saver in a race where I've tipped Wyvern. Just seems overpriced on its consistent form it's shown.

Pallas Lord has not won since here last year when getting two in a row at 1 mile and then 7f, with the second of those being off a 61. He has been close for the first three of the four runs this year, including a second by a nect off a 57 last month. Running off a 58 at 7f today looks worth an each-way bet.

Call Glory is a horse that has shown remarkable improvement since changing stables. In his victory on January 13 at Southwell, he recorded a speed efficiency of 107.35%, one of the highest in his recent career. At Newcastle (February 6), his figure was more modest (36 TS), suggesting that he performs best when the pace is consistent from the start. His success depends on staying in the middle of the pack and launching his attack with 400 meters to go. Sectional data shows a cadence of 2.45 strides per second, indicating good sustained acceleration in the final stretch at Newcastle.
